I once had someone call out pregnant one day. And it was a guy! "Sorry - can't come in today. I'm pregnant."

Have you thought about going through a temp agency for another job? They can usually place people with certain training or experience immediately. I would think there would be many positions open for finance. Note that a temp job does not pay as much as being hired full time by a company, but it would allow you to leave your present job right away, and then you could search for a new full time position.
If you have some money set aside and can go without a pay check for what could possibly be several months, I would quit and spend all my time looking for a new job. It is much easier looking for a job and going to interviews when you are not working, compared to trying to juggle everything while still employeed. If this isn't an option for you, then I would seriously consider taking a temp position and then look for another job.
Below are some online job sites and temp agencies, but you should also check the yellowpages for your area. Hope this helps and goodluck!

A lot of places practice seniority, especially when you work at a service industry (such as hotel) or at retail stores. If you go anywhere that deals with customers directly you can't avoid of meeting rude people now and then. No matter where you work. Not all work places train their employees appropriately and I don't know why. If I am not mistaken there are other departments at hotels. Does your hotel have any accounting department? If they have opening in the accounting department then maybe you can try to apply for it. Most of us work for the money. If you don't need the money and only need the experience then stick with it. How long have you worked there? Try to stay there for at least 2 years and then try to find a new job. Once you get a firm offer then give them a 2 weeks notice.

The hours you worked from 3pm to 1am may not be fair in some states, since this constitutes mandatory overtime. I would contact the Labor Board and see if what this employer did in this instance is fair. Two hours isn't a lot, I have had to work double shifts on some jobs - that was tough...but still you need to know if what they are doing is fair. If you aren't happy there I would look for another job, or contact an employment agency, make an appointment, let them test your skills - it isn't too bad, and give them your resume, or references, then hopefully they can match your qualifications with a job that you may just enjoy going too. Seniority is pretty much the norm at any job you will have, so keep your chin up and I wish you good luck...

Become a never-ending force searching for a good job or even a way into the financial sector... call, email, tell everyone you meet you are looking for whatever job it is you want... meanwhile, do your job the best you can...
Try this at work - the meaner and ruder someone is, the kinder and more balanced you become... it can be a very fun game... think "if I get upset, this tuna head wins...", so smile and be understanding and be glad you are not a mean, rude person...
Become this force of never-ending energy and focus until you achieve the job you want - then joyfully resign from the hotel and when you get an exit interview, calmly and positively tell about the lack of training, so at least the person behind you can benefit from your experience...
Good luck!

I feel for ya. Those fancy hotels cater to rich people who can be very snotty.
I think you're quite sick and should probably stay home. Don't want to get all of your co-workers and guests sick now do you, no you don't, wink wink.
If you're looking for something in the field of finance, a friend of mine got a job as an assistant at Edwards Jones. You may not be through with school, she isn't either, but maybe you could find something like that.

You will have to quit before you make yourself miserable and end up in depression there are loads of places that offer internships or even just work you have to research the companies and such in your area find their sites on line and look for vacancies or opportunities in the mean time you could always get a short job which isn't so stressful even if its just in a shop to pay your way while you search. This is what i am going to do in the summer i hope someone accepts me best of luck to you too!

Tell them the truth!!! Your tired. If you can afford to not work and look for a new job then this would be the best route to go down as you can look and give 100% of your time, this path will stop you feeling as low as it makes you feel at the present time! I know how you feel, and theres nothing worse than being some where you really dont want to be. If you carnt then try to find a job during your breaks, after work, email and internet. Best of luck in your search.

You don't say where you live and what kind of background you have. However, with limited information to go on, I would suggest quitting the job you hate and looking for another. You might try working for a temp agency for a while and so get a taste of the workplace without committing yourself until you know more.

No, you shouldn't quit. I suggest that you keep it, until you can move to another job you actually like or suits your interest better.
Have you tried talking to the management about it? if I were you I wouldn't ask my co-workers of anything, many do feel insecure about a new employee replacing them and I am guessing that being a cashier doesn't require much training, just think of it as a "Monkey Business", monkey see...monkey do ':P and remember to keep smiling

Go to the Guidance office of the school where you obtained your Fiance degree and ask if they have any internships with banks or other financial institutions.
You need to find another job first, then quit this job before they fire you.
