I live in China. I earn 75grand/year.
I do not have a place of residence in the USA anymore
I do not pay any taxes to China, though maybe I should
I am self employed.
If everything I make is exempt from tax, how do I calculate my taxable income for IRA contributions?
Do I have to file if underthe exempt amount, and what forms do I use?
Thanks,
Daloong

I recently made a career switch to a top-tier i-bank (hint - one out of the following: Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Lehman). I had read that the typical Associate salary range was 80-100k, however I was offered only 75k. I feel a bit stupid for accepting, but felt I had no bargaining power at the time, since I have no experience in the industry and my degree is in the humanities. Now I'm working longer hours than anyone in my team and have no time for anything else. Without being greedy, I just want to be making as much as everyone else.

How do these things work? Should my salary eventually be adjusted to be on par? Will I be entitled to a higher bonus to offset the lower salary?

i mean , what am i supposed to write in it ? like , oo i read about ur company and it's a great company , and then how I can add quality to your company ? i mean isn't that all just pretentious ( I'm not sure what's the right word here ) , but how the hell am i supposed to get a job , if I can't even write a good cover letter. I am getting really frustrated .. ahh..
i need a job asap , and i applied to 20 companies in the last 2 days. But no calls yet. The only thing that i customized in those cover letters are the " dear Michael , or sometimes it's another person's name " and the beginning like " I read about ur advertisement for a personal banker position, from career builder.com "

What else can I add so it will pop out ? I know I have to do research on their company and add somethign from there, But what is that "something " that i need to add , because I am getting really confused.

I am now a self employed consultant as of last week. I filled out a w9 form for my customer. How much of my income should I be setting aside to cover my Federal taxes? I also live in Massachusetts, and we have a 5% State Tax as well, so that must be added to the amount as well.
Does anyone know the average percent that I should be setting aside? I somehow think that 28% is a good figure? Please help! Thanks.

My mom RECENTLY passed away. She still has a credit card bill that needs to be dealt with. My father doesn't know much about it. It wasn't in my father's name, just my mother's alone. Now that she is gone, who has to pay for it? She technically doesn't have an estate, except for the house, but my father's name is still on the house and he lives in it. Without the house, he has no where else to go. He can't afford her bill and he doesn't even know it's a big bill. Help!
