Just read an article on line that said the Median Income for families in the US was $40,000. This means that 1/2 half of the people make more than that and 1/2 make less.

It obviously varies greatly around the country.

As of 2004 (the latest year that I have data on), the median taxable income on the income tax return was $30,122. Half of the returns showed a taxable income higher than this and half showed a taxable income less than this.
