Anytime you receive money from anyone, change anything put 10% away...ie Buying food get 2.50 in change make sure you put .25 in your piggy bank...someone owes you $100 put $10 in your bank when you get paid back...Check your "latte factor" named after people who think they are swamped with bills only to realize they buy a $3.35 latte twice a day 5 days a week...cut out yours...using this example 6.70 per day = 33.50 per week = 6weeks x 33.50 = 201.00 right there...you're best bet is to review your Food costs and "expenses"...that's best place to cut costs and make headway...

Well, if you are already averaging a savings of $400/month, then without changing anything, in 6 weeks you should have about $600. So really, you are only looking at a way to save $400 more than normal in that time period, which is less than $9/day. You can skip things like coffee in the mornings, and vending machine snacks. Don't go out for meals, make everything at home, and only buy what you need for meals....go through your pantry and eat all the dry goods you have left, and maybe you won't need groceries for a week. Skip out on things like going to the movies. Go through your clothes, and take things you don't like to a resale shop. See if you have anything else you don't want that you can list for free on craigslist. Make sure you always turn off your lights when you leave the house, and only have the lights on in the room you are in so keep your electric bill lower. Set up a budget for yourself. If you make $2500/month, you make $625/week. So in the next 6 weeks, you will make $3750. How much a week do you need for bills, and how much a week can you put in your Christmas savings. :)

That is 250 per week or 750 per month and you already are saving 400 per month so you need to earn 350 a month more. A part time Christmas Job, selling something, not buying anything including food other than real basics like rice and beans.

Is there anything you can cut out? Can you turn off some appliances you don't use and save on electricity bills? Can you bike/walk/use public transpo to work instead of drive? Can you change your cell phone or cable plan to something cheaper? There are some bundles you can get for cheaper that gives you cable, internet AND cell phone service. Can you cut down on grocery shopping, or buy store brand instead of the more expensive kind? Can you plan out your meals for the week, and bring your lunches to work? Can you go out with friends fewer times a week? Or invite them over for dinner or a potluck?

Track your spending for a month and see where you can save a few bucks.

Get a second job. You've got six weeks to make $170 a week after taxes. $7 an hour for 30 hours a week, more per hour, less hours. Cut expenses. Do you buy coffee every day? Make it at home instead. See how much that saves you.
