Do most companies pay for this ?

2007-09-16 07:19:58 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous in Technology

From Dec 2009 to Jan 2019 (I am paying off credit cards until then), I will be saving over $750 a month so we can pay cash for a truck and 5th wheel when my wife retires at 60 (I already am retired). My credit union currently offers .75% APY, so its growth is basically negligible. I want something low-risk but offers a better return. I'm looking for investment types (T-bills, money markets, etc), that will allow me to make variable monthly contributions and allow easy access to the money when the time is right (or earlier in case of catastrophic emergency).

I am at my wits end. My car was towed a few years ago. It stayed in storage for a while. I negotiated with the tow company owner for payment. He would accept CASH ONLY $300. I paid the negotiated amount. About 11 months later he sent me to collections saying I paid NOTHING. I contacted the collection & tow company of the error. Neither would listen to me, only telling me to provide the receipt. I could not locate the receipt. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to buy a house and this was affecting my credit. I took both companies to small claims court and WON! I won on the grounds that the tow company by law was to accept bank card payment, the collection company refused to validate their claim, and I was unfairly sent toThey appealed. The second judge would hardly let me speak, wouldn't take my witness statement because it was in writing and she could not appear for a 2nd time. He turned around the decision. THEY WON. This is STILL on my credit. INJUSTICE TO SAY THE LEAST

So here's the deal...I recently moved to Atlanta, GA and I am have a tough time finding work. My background is in administrative support, most recently as a legal secretary for 2 years at a criminal law office in Florida. And I have a bachelor's degree.

An acquaitance suggested that I try being a cocktail waitress
(specifically at a gentlemen's club) in the meantime to make some quick money. My question is how likely is it that I can be hired with absolutely no experience in the food service/beverage industry?

I've been checking ads (craigslist, local newspaper), and I found a position as a cocktail server at an upscale restaurant in a 5-star hotel. I know it doesn't take a Ph.D. to take an order and serve someone a drink, but it goes back to that whole "lack of experience" thing. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks a million!

After I had opened up a Bank of America student debit account I got set up for a credit card that was to be sent to me. I never received the card due to mail situations and I never even activated it. I kept the account but didn't plan on using it because at the time, I knew I was not ready for a credit card.

Well, now I have to pay a bill with it and when I called the bank to get it resent there was a big ordeal and I guess someone used it to buy gas in Europe in December. So now it's handled by the fraud group and they aren't there until Monday.

Anyway, how long will it take for me to get my card sent to me if I handle this Monday?
If it is not sent to me in time to pay this bill, is there a way I can charge it without having the actual card?

and, why the heck is no one available to handle this over the weekend? Im pretty ticked at this bank.

My apartment unit just caught on fire yesterday, and only the entire kitchen burned down, everything else is covered soot, and there are couple smoke damages on the wall. My family rent the apartment, and the landlord is trying to have us take all the responsibilities. The report labeled the fire under "accidental", but does which kind of accident matter? those caused by a person (negligence)? those caused by uncontrollable factors (appliance defect, electricity leakage)? Also, about when will the insurance person show up? I won't know the terms of the insurance until the insurance person shows up.Please try to answer all three questions.

I am going to change jobs from working for a company to being essentially self employed. I will work as a contract employee, so I will be responsible for withholding taxes, paying them, etc...Would it be in my best interest to hire a cpa or try to figure it out on my own? Also, if I "hired" my wife to handle my money, would I be able to deduct from my taxes? I am going to make close to double the income I presently make - the tax consequence will be much higher? Any help would be welcome!
