My roommate and I put in a total of $1050 for our security deposit. We were only give back $400. They charged $300 for painting, but we never made any damages to the wall. If we did, I doubt it's worth $300. They also charged a portion for the mailbox, which I have no clue why, as well as for maid service. We actually hired professional cleaners to clean the apt. so there shouldn't even be a charge for maid service. Do the landlords have a right to give us all these ridiculous charges? How should be take action? Are there any Texas guidelines or laws that can help us in this situation? I know normally landlords are required to repaint the apartment anyway, before new tenants move in.

Especially when there is evidence of fraudulent activity by said vendor smeared all over the internet?

I'm just curious, but why are the school supplies so cheap in the summer back to school sales? Doesn't Staples lose money if it sells its 8 pk pencils, pencil sharpeners, etc. at 1 cent? A lot of those things are made in China, but the same things sold in China isn't that cheap, plus there must be a transportation cost from China to US, and some government taxes. But, anyway, if the stores sell the school supplies at a cost, why would they do that?

I was told I would get 6 to 10 weeks of training on their computer system as it is all different for each company.

On day 3 they transfered 100 claims into my que as they belonged to a young man that was just recently fired.

Most of his claims are a mess and some are even in violation with the Dept of Insurance, (DOI).

I have not been able to check the claims totally as I do not know how to get into the claim totally in their system, I have not been trained.

I talked to my unit manager who said he talked to his boss and told them its like setting me up to fail and even my trainer said, it was so un realistic for them to think I can just dive in and handle these claims without knowing the system.

They also want to start me on getting new claims in a day or so.

I was totally overwhelmed and even called in sick, which I was having a bad allergy attack, but part of

Since the companies have to respond within 30 days, and some of them won't in that time period? Are there any negative affects this might have? Or does it depend on what I say when I dispute the items? For instance, if I say I never paid this late, what could happen? Is this risky?

This credit business is ridiculous.

Thank you!

Is it just me, or is any place that lends money and has the word "financial" in its name a really bad place to get a loan? It's something I've noticed. If they're called "Acme financial" etc, do they tend to give loans that aren't at a very good rate? Or they cater to people with poor credit? Is this true? Or have I just been seeing something that isn't there? If it is true, what is the reason? Is there a law or something that requires it? Just wondering. Thanks.

I am looking for places to live (rent), and keep seeing ads for houses that apparently are being sold because their previous owner couldn't maintain payment on the mortgage. The ads say that you can take over loan payments, w/ no credit check on top of that. I'm skeptical, of course, and would like to know more about these situations.
Can someone explain this scenario for me? Thanks.

A rogue tenant could just throw away a notice in regular mail and deny having been notified. How to avoid that? Sending a letter through a law firm? Is so, are there more affordable ways? I guess this question could be generalised to all legal notifications and it depends on the jurisdiction. I'm hoping there're some general and affordable means to do notifications like that in the subject.

Hi,
I just started college a week ago and i have no computer. To be more specific, no laptop.
I've stated earlier that i was in college so i think it is implied i am broke. =P

I have been going to different websites (bestbuy, circuit city, dell, sony, ect.) to try and finance a laptop. I have been denied at all of them except Best Buy which gave me a $200 limit, unfortunatley not enough to get a laptop for school.

It is a real problem for me because i have to use the university computers for writing papers and homework. If someone has any advice or help it would be very much appreciated.

P.S. Asking family for help is not an option =/
