Most people owe over $10 K on their credit card and barely pay the minimum... this isn't big news because it doesn't hurt the stock market, right?

Someone in America needs to send me money in the UK quickly, but can't use their paypal account. It takes 10 days for anything he sends by post to get here, and it's quite a large amount of money, so it might not be safe enough. Neither of us have a credit card. Any other ways?

After my dad dies, I have sold my dad's 14 rental houses and distributed the money to my siblings (and myself). Do I need to pay pay inheritance tax on what I've received from those houses? Its about $75K in hand.

I understand I DO need to pay taxes on rental incomes.

Thanks!

Our contract allowed us to stop rent should there of been imperticular infestation of cockroach, we did and still are suffering with cockroaches, I stopped the rent accordingly. Rental aggreement ended to months ago we are still in the property without a contract and cannot move until the landlord gives us back the deposit.

What can we do, are there any actions to regain our deposit immediatly we feel like destitute finantial hostages.

We are 2 adults 2 children.....

Thank you

This is a section of the agreement which was signed by the tenant:
Abandonment is defined as absence of the Tenant from the premises for a period of seven (7) or more consecutive days while rent or any owing monies remain unpaid - whereupon Tenant will be considered in breach of this Agreement. If Tenant abandons the House during the term of this Agreement, the Landlord may enter the House by any legal means, without being liable for such entering, and without becoming liable to the Tenant for damages caused upon entering. Landlord may consider any personal property belonging to the Tenant and left on the property to also have been abandoned, in which case the Landlord may dispose of all such personal property in any manner the Landlord deems proper without becoming liable to the Tenant for doing so.

If the tenant left for 2 weeks and paid zero rent and allowed his cousin to live in the house while tenant is gone, can the landlord force people living in the house out on the street?

My last check was around 1300. I get paid monthly and am married.
I thought something was wrong when they only took out 7 dollars for my federal income tax but when looking at the IRS chart here http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p15.pdf it actually looks like they are taking out the right amount considering I put a 2 for my W-4.

WHy do they take out such a small amount though? I know you get a tax break for putting a 2 on the W-4 as well as for being married but I'm destined to be owing taxes at the end of the year if I'm only paying 7 dollars a month for taxes aren't I?

Just wondering, as I am leaving on a year long trip soon and am purchasing American Express Traveler Cheques and am wondering if I owe money to the Department of Education for past student loans, if they can and are able to to take that money out of American Express to where I wont be able to use the cheques, just like if they were in a regular bank account?

How so?

i opened a campus edge checking account with bank of america.. and when i opened it the man told me that bank of america DOES NOT charge student accounts overdraft fees as long as i deposit the money i overdrafted within 2 weeks.
so i overdrafted like $4 the other day.. but i returned one of my textbooks the next day and got the money back.. and they charged me a $35 fee.. but i didnt see it right away. and then i overdrafted another $2 after buying another textbook.. but then deposited money back in a few hours later. and they charged me ANOTHER $35 fee.
So when i called up customer service they told me there was nothing they could do about it.
But the bank gave me false information when i opened the account. the only reason i opened it was because i thought that it was a really great thing that the bank was doing, and no other bank does that..
so how is that my fault that i was given false information?
that is the banks fault. and they should refund my money to me. but they wont.

A 24-year-old Home Depot employee in Murfreesboro, Tenn.,
is unemployed this week after catching a man who took cash from an on-site soda machine. Former department manager Dustin Chester said that he simply acted on instinct when he saw the alleged thief, but later found out that his employer's policy was to simply allow such offenders to escape, The Nashville Tennessean reported Wednesday. "The district manager told me that we are supposed to let thieves walk away; it blew my mind," the former employee-of-the-year said. "He had a crowbar, and what if he had come inside and gone after customers or the employees working at the registers?" Chester said of Monday's suspect. "I'd rather have him coming at me than going after any of the customers." A Home Depot spokesman said that the decision to fire Chester and his general manager was simply based on company policy, which is oriented toward ensuring safety on-site.

I currently make 42k a year, applying for a job which I'm not exactly sure what the salary would be, but assuming it would be approximately 10-20k more. During a preliminary phone screening, I was asked for my salary and told it to the HR person. I said I expected a raise shortly, and a 10% bonus at end of year. My concern is that she'll try and low ball my salary offer because I probably make far less than what the job pays. So, my question is whether someone's salary depends more on the job itself or the person's qualifications/current salary. And if its current salary, how can i go about getting closer to the market salary. Finance industry (investment banking operations, near NYC) if that helps.

If a dead tree in your own yard falls through your own house, will an insurance company generally still pay? Even if the homeowner knew it was obviously dead to begin with? I think they wont due to negligence. Am I right?

I am in the process of paying down my credit cards. I have four cards and currently they all about 90% maxed out. If i have them all below 30% in Novemeber. How long should i wait to apply for a loan to get cheapest rate? Also, I recently opened two new accounts about 3 months old. How long before they will show a positive look on my credit score? Because i read somewhere that opening new accounts has a negative affect on credit at first.
