I'm not sure how to go about asking for work at places that are family owned or like a private business or nite club. I always feel awkward. Does anyone have tips?

I can't think of another commodity, physical asset, or product (not paper investments) that is less likely to depreciate over time.

I understand that YES, precious metals can depreciate simply by supply/demand, inflation/deflation. But, comparatively, other things are much worse. What else can I buy and resell for a profit after time?

Baseball cards? A house (too much unfront & debt)? a car? Food? Electronics? CDs? DVDs? Books? antiques? Clothes? Ink carts?

So my question is, if I'm not into paper investments, would owning precious metals be the best alternative in both preserving purchasing power and potential profit?

I recently bought a computer and it is being shipped to me in Boston via FedEx. It left the Dell Warehouse in North Carolina on Friday, and that is the last place it says it has been for the last two days. Does FedEx just not update their systems often, because I know UPS has tracking updates everyday.

do to job loss had to relocate to another state. home in michigan has been on market for 6 months no takers yet even after multible reductions in price. can't afford two homes any more so have'nt paid for the home in michigan (taxes are due also) recieved notice of foreclosure to take place 30th august. with bankrupcy laws that have changed what do you do first? talk w/lawyer or take pre bankrupcy class/ I never in my 50yrs thought I would have to do something like this. is foreclosure worse than a bankrupcy? can't even do a short sale no lookers. if I give the bank the deed back I also have a equity loan and have no equity left in the home. the auction will take place on the 30th I don't know what to do first. I'm humiliated at the thought of all this happenning. will I ever get a loan again? how much upfront to file bankrupcy? any help is appreciated.

Same applies to savings, are they?

If yes, that's PRETTY MESSED UP. It's not bad enough you only get 5 cents on the dollar you have to be taxed on that too? PLEASE taxation has always been well above 5 cents on the dollar, so why should you be paid less than the government taxes you? (Ok, that left my point, back to the question)

So, are CD gains taxable? From my understanding, all transactions with a papertrail are taxable.

My husband and I signed on a lease agreement for one year to our landlord. He decides he wants to sell his properties and it gets bought out by a real estate agency. Our new lease was sent to us and we have to pay another deposit and another application fee. We already did that the first time around. Is our old lease terminated? or do we still have rights from our first agreement. My name wasn't even on the new lease and I signed on the old one. We are frustrated. My husband called about an appliance that went out and some of the new owners were less than cooperative. "you are on a month to month lease now, just so you know!"...real rude. My husband and I are apprehensive about the new ownership. What are our legal grounds with this situation?? We do still have a copy of the old lease. It expires june 2008.

The job involves working in a capacity that I am interested in. I will have to learn alot, but I think that I can also contribute alot.........A mentor of mine actually pushed for me to get this job, (someone who works within the agency) and it will be quite challenging but I think with time, I may be able to learn the ins and outs and actually be able to make a difference........o.k. here is the question.....I did not know when I took the job that it involved traveling out of the area......now I do not have a problem with this except for the fact that I am horrible with direction (I mean rediculously horrible) and truly do have panic attacks........I have spoken to him somewhat about this but until this week-end (worrying about it all week-end)....I really don't think that I can do this part of the job without stressing way too much.....I also know that this part is required......what can I do........please only reply if you seriously want to help...........
thanks!

Are they just stupid?

A measly 5% a year, for holding your money and not letting you access it? Especially when most start at $2,500 minimum. Our expenses yearly (obviously) far exceed this, and we lose more than 10-15% to buy ANYTHING just by NOT buying things in bulk. Wouldn't you save a lot of money just by shopping around than 5%?

Can't you just resell things on eBay for much more?

I'm considering opening a checking account with my financial aid money from school. However, I have a few thousand dollar judgement against me, and I don't want them coming after the money in my new checking account. Even though I will be depositing a few thousand in the new bank account, I need it to live on for the next 5 months. I'm really not trying to evade the judgement, or hide my assets, just go to school. I do plan on paying the judgement eventually.

My only other assets are a used vehicle which kelly blue book lists at $4500 for private sale value.

I'm trying to find the exact guidelines which will ensure my checking account is collection proof, but I've had no luck locating such information online.

Any Indiana law gurus out there that could help me out would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading!
