I am looking at starting a business but I have to start small. I'm looking for a garment manufacturer in China and have looked online but don't know how I find out about tax/logistics/getting samples to Australia. Any ideas?

I would say all information from internet should be filtered by yourself. so do not depend on them too much!
On site visit or audit will help you understand suppliers better.
