OK, long story short I've been royally screwed over by the local phone company monopoly Yellow Pages. 6 months into this year I found out they had changed my phone number (sort of disconnected) from the previous year. This cost me a sharp decrease of about 50% gross profit. I stopped paying them as I had no money! Despite several complaints, they have offerred nothing but collections companies in return.

Now, I signed up for only half the advertising this year and they insisted on charging me a ridiculously high rate (about 700/month for an ad that should be less than 200 only because I didn't spend more with them). Needless to say, this ad at this rate is performing miserably.

The good news is I've found an alternative cheaper advertising for my business. The bad news is that if I even try to pay this hefty yellow page bill I swear I'll be broke in a few months. So, I know they won't let me list again, but will they chase me for the money. The bill is under my corporation so

I gave a check to someone just over six months ago and I am a little ticked he hasn't deposited it. Will his bank honor the check? It is Wells Fargo I believe and I am with Wamu. I am not about to reissue the check to him if they don't as it was a gift and not something owed to him.

I have been with the same company for 28 years and in good standings. As the matter of fact my local managemers are given me recommendation letters. My job as for fact not been eliminated but replaced by a local person in Atlanta. My company bought out another company 2 years ago and they are finally closing down mine and other two's one in Indiana and one in Kansas city. However, the corporate office in New Jersey has give all the employees in Indiana a choice to relocate only 4 took the transfer but they have yet not asked any of us in Illinois. Can I refuse my severance and if any, can I have any legal recourse against the company and under what? We will be closing sometime in December. Also at this time they are still looking for help in Atlanta.

My lease clearly states that my wife and i are not responsible for water, trash and sewer charges, but each month we got billed for those utilities, after calling and calling and calling and trying to resolve the issue with the owners, they said there was nothing they could do, so we now take the total amount of those utilities out of the rent each month, its normally about $50. my landlord has served me with an eviction notice because i didnt "pay all the rent" i need some help please. THANK YOU

Within the last year we started getting collection letters with someone elses name, our address, and my husband's ssn. I call the collection co. and told them of the mistake and I wrote a letter. We filed a police report. The collection co sent another letter, and when I called again and asked for the origination of the loan, they refused to give it to me. The agency told me to send them a copy of his driver's license and a copy of his social security card. This sounded like a bad idea to me so we didn't. Another trip to the poice dept. Flags on credit reports. Now, several months later we have gotten a letter from the US dept of education telling us that they are going to offset his wages and/or federal return unless we pay in full. I called the number. They said we needed to send a copy of DL, SS card and birth certificate. Doesn't this seem strange? Btw, the loan was originated 30 years ago. My husband was 7. Should we get an attorney? Should we send the info? Real help, please.

Will the party come to an end when foreign investors start to pull out their money from our economy? The subprime lending scare may be just the opening salvo across our bow.

I need some advice. I recently graduated college with a BS in computer science. I also recently moved to a big city. Now in the two months that I have lived in this city I have not been able to find a job and I know why. I do not have any relevant technical job experience. I worked at a video store for 4 years and a call center for one. Any job that I have looked at, entry level or not, only wants people with at least one year exp.

Here is where i need some advice. I know I could get a job at Best Buy's geek squad, although I really do not want to. I hate retail and I know that geek squad is a total rip off. They do pay well though and the way things are going I might end up having to work there. I need an entry level IT job that doesn't require any experience so I can GET experience. Any suggestions?

My future apartment tenant has given me the run-around, taken over $100 from me and has still not approved my application despite the many lies she has told me concerning the situation. I am wondering if there is anywhere i can go to file a complaint or report her, or anywhere i can go to expose her name and warn other people about her actions.

why don't they give their employees Sunday off, andwhy do they insist on treating their employees like slaves? Wal-mart comes to mind. No Christian holidays off, and even pushing to force people to work on the one day off they get, Christmas!

My roommate just moved in with me for 2 weeks only, but he is he is never pick up anythings. When he took out the trash, he threw it all over the yard, and the trash spilled out. Whenever I ask him to keep the place clean, he always said he has to go somewhere. He brings his friend over to hang out even though I told him I didnt want that.

He has not signed the lease yet, so I think I can get him out legally. However I felt bad to tell him to leave after I promised him that he can rent my apartment.

Please give me advise.

Please, renters and apartment owners, I am not requesting your answers at this time. I still love you, though. :-)

My husband and I will be making a NET income of $57,000 next year and we want to buy a house. I want to see what other people are doing and what they can afford with their income -- I'm tired of doing calculations and guessing. I want to hear what you REAL people are doing/affording. How much do you make, and what does your house cost?

Feel free to add your debt/monthly payments/how comfortable you are with your bills, etc. I just want a FEEL. Thanks. :-)

What gives our money the value it carries. I mean how the currency is determined to carry a certain value depending on countries.

my question is analogous to these analogy :::

A country that has too many poor people can print more money and more people will have more money. why it is not practiced

Why different country have different value for their currency . how this is fixed or determined

What does it mean when it is said that the value of the money for a country is reflected by that countries reserve bank deposit which can also be gold.

well how else our currencies VALUE is measured , valued and set.
