My co worker went to try to refi her house. She and her husband are separated and she needs a lower house pmt. When they bought the house they weren't married yet and had it titled as a single person, joint tenants in common. They had since gotten married and then separated. When she asked about refinancing she found out that her estranged husband had taken out a 2nd mtg. without her knowing it and had it titled as a single person when he is still legally married to her. They told her if she wanted to refi she would have to pay off the 2nd as well. Can he legally do that?

I would like to find out your opinions on tax havens, if you think that the rich pay more to charities because they pay less taxes and if you think by investing money in charities it makes it ok for the rich to invest in tax havens and therefore save on taxes

How long did it take, and what kind of stuff did you have to do? My boyfriend's credit report has an error on it, and I'm curious as to what we're getting ourselves into in order to fix it.

our credit is not the greatest. Two years ago my husband started fighting a medical condition that didn't allow him to work and he finnaly got accepted for Social Security Disablitiy in April 2007. But for the last two years we have relied on my income alone which wasn't much. So need less to say we fell behind. We are still working on getting all the way caught up. We had a friend look at our credit reports he said that there is a lot of good things on it but there are also things we need to work on. Which we have been for the last three months. But we have $6,000 dollars in medical bill still and are are behind a month on a couple payments. Will it be possible for us to get a home loan with these types of problems

Do I go to the bank and tell them I want to open a Roth and contribute to it, or do I go to the bank with a certain sum of money...say $1000. and tell them I want to open a Roth.
How does it work? Do you contribute to it monthly and what is the smallest amount you can open a Roth with.
I dont get how it works. I hear its a good investment idea.

I have lived in a condo for just under 4 years. I have owned the place for 19-20 months and my place is on the market.

I moved in with an agreement with the developer to buy the place on certain terms. The developed reneged and we had to litigate for a year to get the original terms.

If I had bought when I should have, I would have owned my place for nearly 3 years by now.

According the IRS I meed the usage test but I do not meet the ownership test when considering the actual date of purchase.

Is there some type of exception for someone like me who was in litigation with the developer and seller to exclude some of the capital gains on the property?

How much will college algebra help with this class? Are there particular parts to the class to pay extra attention to since I’m mostly interested in learning about business and accounting? I’m disappointed about having to take this class, but would feel better about it if I knew why I had to take it.

I live in NC. Im not sure if that matters. Anyways, my friend is looking for a house and he has gone with someone who has just finished up their realestate classes and recieved their license. The realator calls my friend and tells him "Hey I got a number of a guy YOU need to call and talk to...I think he will give you a good rate." He has yet to help him even FIND a mortgage company. I dont think my friend knows where to start. he assumed and so did I that the agent was supposed to help with that. Am I wrong or should the agent be taking the personal information to find him a lendor or at least giving him a list or lenders to contact?
Thanks for all your kind answers!

When I turned 20 I signed up for a credit card (after lots of research). I got one with a $1,000 limit, and 15% APR, which has since dropped greatly. I paid for my college textbooks with it to the amount of about $500. Soon after, my car broke down and I needed repairs, so I got another one with an $1,800 limit, and 22% APR. I am very conscious with them, right now both cards are completely paid off. Now I am looking to get rid of those for a card with a high credit limit, and low interest, so I will only have one card. My entire credit history (of 2 years) is perfect. Any suggestions?

We repainted our entire home 6 years ago before we moved in. We painted one room a deep dark green color called forest green. It is pretty harsh.... How should we go about repainting it? Maybe prime it first, then repaint with a neutral color? Also, we have baby borders with matching curtains up in two rooms. Should be take all the wall and border stuff down and put up regular curtains? Would it make it harder to sell if we left them up? Thanks in advance for the advice :o)
