I have a laptop
I have a stereo
I am not allowed to have a tv.
I have had straight A's my whole life in every subject and am in the best public school classes you can have (Megsss and Imast). SO education is not a problem.

I worked when I was 14. The only reason I would advise against it is that you don't HAVE to at 14....You're 14 and you need to enjoy your childhood. There will be plenty of time after high school to experience the "real world" of working day after day.
Although, you're reasoning for wanting a job (something you wish to save up and purchase) is a good one, and I commend you on your sense of responsibility.

I've been working since I was probly 10 or 11. I started out with a paper route in elementary school, and I've been working ever since. It's a great idea b/c you'll always have spending money and you won't need to ask your parents to buy you crap since you can just get it yourself instead waiting for b-days and holidays. (By the way, do NOT waste $$$ on an IPhone they are full of problems and do not have even some of the normal functions that the avg. phone has now. Bet once you have the money for one, you won't want it anymore......save for a car instead, now that will actually pay off in the long run.) Specially when it comes to the dating scene and you own your own car and not driving your moms minivan.

You should stay at school and try to get the best education and most qualifications you can. That way you will have the highest earnings and a career to be proud of, for the rest of your life. You will be able to buy a good house, a good car, and1000 iphones
Getting out of school at the earliest time is the worst thing you can do. You will be and remain low paid, get little respect from any one and all the people who did it ,regret it later. Those who succeeded in spite of little education are very few and far between, believe me.

first off knowing apple they will have a better, slimmer, and more capable version of the iPhone in a few months, second in 3 or 4 years the iPhone will probably be either very un-fashionable, or maybe even outdated... i'd suggest you get the LG Prada Phone which is better than iPhone in my opinion...
You CAN get a cheap paying job like mowing other peoples lawns, walking dogs, or w/e and get $800 in a few months but if you want to work in a shop you have to be 16 and up, it's the law...
if you do get the money i'd suggest you get a plasma tv, or a laptop (prefferably a lap top) and if you do decide to work and save up for a laptop, maybe you can even convince your parents to give you some of the money to help you get the laptop faster...
or maybe even save up for a car... i'd suggest getting like a used car... like getting say a crashed mercedes benz for $5k, then just having it fixed for another $5K... pretty good deal...

Oh yeah, you should get a job as soon as you can. At your age an employer doesn't expect experience. When you get a bit older they will, and if you don't have any, it's really hard to find anything. Obviously you have to make sure you don't work too much. You still have schoolwork, household chores and a social life that need attention.

education is one of the only honest ways an ordinary bloke can get ahead in the world. Work is necessary, but the kind of work an under-educated lad can get pays only very poorly.
further, education pays off very well over a lifetime. and more usually pays better.
so what you need to do is make sure that you're learning in school and doing well.
working is second after school for a 14 year old.
simple enough?

Oh yeah, go for it. I'm turning 14 in a month and I'm going to work at Ritter's during the summer. And if you don't know what Ritter's is, I will happily beat you to death.
But I'm saving up for a car, as should you. The Apple iPhone is just a fad, to be replaced in a few months by something else.

Work a few hours a day. keep focused on your studies and let the job give you cash flow to put away to reach a goal you establish.

I had to start working when I was eight, selling door to door. My daddy had died and there was no money for mom to give me. So if I wanted money I had to earn it.
(Phones did not exist then either.) Back in 1997 on the national news came out the report that these phones with electricity in them caused BRAIN CANCER. Everyone basically yelled "NO" back at the report and ran to buy these phones. In 1992 the NEWS had said anyone that slept with their clocks near their heads were more likely to get Brain Cancer. My Aunt Jo had Brain Cancer at the time and I asked if she slept with her clock close to her head? She said "Yes". And died.
IF you start working at 14 do you reallly want to start working on getting Brain Cancer, or would you perfer something else?
I was cutting three lawns at 12 years old.
