What happens if you owe money to the IRS (backed taxes, for example) and declare bankruptcy? Will they still come after you and hunt you down? Will they hold on to that money like a starved Chihuahua on a pork chop?

What if, in the hypothetical case, I cashed my 401K, paid nothing to the IRS and ran away to a foreign country to never come back to the US?

I rent a small, one bedroom cabin for $600 a month. I cannot flush the toilet, drain the sink or shower because everything backs up into the shower stall. I discovered the sewer line is draining on top of the ground (landlord has tried to cover this up with soil and leaves). It smells and I don't feel he is entitled to rent money until he fixes the problem. I have reported him to the town but no action has taken place. Most of the time I stay elsewhere or shower at a friends. If the problem gets fixed, do I owe him all of the back rent?

My bank only lets me take out a certain amount of money a day. Well I'm going to dinner at Applebees for a friends party. I was wondering if I could use my card like a debit card? It's a regular ATM card, but I heard from a business owner that most resturaunts let you use that kind of card like a debit card! Will it work?!

My fiance and I are looking to buy a home. Our mortgage broker looked at his credit report and his sons unpaid fines are listed as leins on his credit report. (They have the same first and last name) How do we begin to get this off of his reports?

I want to volentarily turn my vehicle into the bank. From what I understand, the car will be auctioned off and the bank will send me the bill for the balance. So, say I owe 16k on it and the bank sells it for 10k, then I get a bill for 6k? Right? How relentless are banks in pursuing the balance? I know they probably reserve the right to pursue legal action to get the bill paid, but do they often do this? How likely is the bank to eventually stop collections and just write the balance off as a loss? I dont want the car anymore, I cant afford the monthly payment anymore and I am so upside down it, I cant privately sell it and hope to ever get close to what I owe on it. I know this will ruin my credit, but my credit is already trashed, I don't really care at this point.

I always get e-mails about paydayloans being guaranteed. When I go and fill out all of the forms they always say I'm sorry we cannot approve you loan at this time. These sites should not be allowed to do this. To me this is false advertisement and the company should be reported to the Attorney Generals Office in there area.

I just got hired permently last Monday from a temp position I've been at since April. However; I got bored real fast in those few months and started looking for nanny employment....I got an offer and will have to quit my job tomorrow.... how does this sound when I talk to my supervisors

"After careful consideration with my husband, due to the reduction in hours we have decided that a reduction in my hours would really hurt us financially, and the milage put on our car tome to drive here (it's 60 miles a day) is not helping. I have found other employment as a Nanny, making a bit more nd that is closer to my home. I can give a week and a half notice (sorry, i know the stanard is 2 weeks, but it's just not doable) and train my replacement if hired in that timeframe. Again, I do applolgize, but we need to be looking out for our finances more than ever right now."

Please keep in mind this offer did not come through until after I was hired.

I asked a previous question about taxes and escrow and noticed that a few responders recommended seeking advice from a real estate attorney. I'm still very early in the buying process for a home that would cost less than $200k. From a cost perspective, does it make sense to retain an attorney? What are the advantages?

My boss said I stole a something and told me to sign my time sheet and leave for the day. Usually the employees turn in their own time sheet, however he said he would turn in the time sheet for me.

However my Boss is not allowed to turn in my time sheet via a contract both of us singed when I got hired and I never gave him consent to turn in on my behalf.

He said he would report me, but I have yet to hear anything, however I have grounds to report him. What should I do?

The Federal Reserve is a private corporation. Those that shorted Hedge Funds were doing so because they saw that these funds were making bad decisions. The Fed cut was an artificial intervention that hurt those that had shorted. Do those investors have grounds to sue the Federal Reserve for damages?

i know you are allowed to get a free credit report from annualcreditreport.com and that you are allowed one free report from each of the three credit agencies a year. however, does when they say "each year" does that go by:

one sometime between 2006-2007

or would the year go by like say you got one in september 2006, would you not be able to get another until september 2007?

i'm only wondering because i looked back in around november 2006 last year and i went to go look at it today and it told me that i already looked at it for free online this year, and i haven't tried to access in 2007 until today...does that mean i have to wait until november?
