Yes it can do.

However, you`ll have to pay a charge which is normally around £12 - £20 for the cost of converting it from dollars to pounds.

It can also take a while for the cheque to clear, as unbelievably the cheque has to be physically posted to the US, and then a reply saying whether its cleared mailed back.

It takes around 7 - 21 days to go into your account usually, but if it bounces it could be taken out any time in the next 6 weeks.

Yes. The bank will convert the money from dollars to pounds. If its a big dollar amount, and you care, negotiate for a good rate of exchange.

Yes it can but consult with your bank because there will be a charge. If it's a small amount the charge could actually be bigger than the check - strange but true.

Yes....It will take anything up to six weeks for you to see the money and the bank at both ends will charge you a fee
