your parents earn roughtly $155000 (before tax), you go to stony brook university, received enough finicial aid and scholarship that the parents only have to pay $10,000. you can go home every three weeks, there is a room for you in queens in a single family home in convenient location. food is covered for you. you get $1000 a year for clothes, and $200 every months except three months, which is $100. is it fair?
what if you go to a "normal college" because everyone knows that stony brook is for poor students.

I'm thinking of those places that advertise on TV and say "this is not a loan or debt consolidation, we negotiate with your creditors", etc. Do any of these places help people with hospital bills that have gone to a bill collector? If so, any info on these services would be very helpful.

At first I thought, the newer the better. But a friend told me that construction in the 60s and 70s tended to be somewhat stronger because nowadays builders use a lot of particle board and cut corners. Also, I think the 30s-50s were probably also a bad time for home construction due to the scarcity of materials and the sharp increase in demand. I don't really know much about home construction, so I'm interested in your opinion if you do.

Thanks for any help!

I am twenty years old and interested in buying tax lien property. I have been trying to do research on the topic so I decided to try here. Please forgive me for the long story.
There is a property in my hosing complex that the home association has put a lien on the house for failure to pay monthly dues. The house was paid in full but the owner took a second mortgage out on the house to put extra money in their pocket. Later on the owner find himself in a financially situation and couldn’t pay back the money that was owed. The owner then met this scam artist that told the owner in order to get you out of this situation I will give you 30 thousand dollars and take over the mortgage for the deed of your house. The owner gave the person the deed and the person never kept their end of the bargain. The 30 thousand was never paid to the owner and the monthly payment of the mortgage was never paid. The owner up and move to never be seen again. The scam artist is never to been seen again also. Months go on and the monthly home associations dues has not been paid. The hoa put a lien on the house for the amount due. My question is would it be possible for me to talk to the hoa to see if I can pay what’s owed to the hoa to obtain the title for the house or do I have to wait for the house to go into foreclose stage? Once the house goes into the foreclosure stage is it possibly to win the bid of a lien place by the hoa? Is there any other fee’s I have to watch out for, or do I get a free and clean title?
Please excuse my grammar error and use of words; writing is a weakness of mine, due to me being from another country.

What I'm looking for is something that is motivation related. I know that this position is all it is ever going to be. No matter what I do, it will be turned around and blamed back on me. I saw this in my review. I was dinged for not helping in the A/R area, but I do not have access to the program. I also had comments on finding fault with others, it was their work; I did not do it, I was told to review and note the corrections.

In any event, I have started sending out at least three emails a day to try to get out of this nightmare; but nothing is happening.

I need to work to pay bills, there is no way around that.

This is just a very disheartening position, and I see no reason to put forth a 100% work ethic here if I will never get anything out of it.

Let's say that we took out a $220,000 mortgage. Over the course of two years, the monthly payment pays off 6k (just guessing) and we also put another $30,000 into the principal. How could I make it so that we'd be paying a lower monthly payment after putting in 30k? Would we have to refinance?

Ok so I came to this current company whilst they were in a panic and masses of paperwork. I work for the 2nd largest foster /Adoption company in CA. In 6 month's I have completly taken control of surroundings and have calmed waters. We had a CCL audit (Community Care Licensing) and passed with flying colors and they knew that all credit was owed to me.... Now they are saying a raise may not be at the 6 month mark unless we feel it's necessary? I was almost offended, Do I start job hunting? or stick it out? I am a single mother and I take pride in my work, Bottom line is, I need this extra $$ urgently to stay afloat.

Does anyone looking for a job through careerbuilders or monster.com ever get responses in the form of an overseas company looking for employees to use their bank accounts to transfer funds of clientel? I get these emails offering this job and touting major dollars. Only thing is they want you to have a pay pal account or a checking account because supposedly they use it to transfer funds from the client to your account and then take the funds. They then tranfer to you a commission from the transaction. Someone enlighten me please. This sounds very fraudulant.

Property A&B, identical, across the street from each other.
Adam owns Property A, Bob owns Property B.

Adam and Bob (brothers) don't like the fact that they cannot deduct expenses (besides interest)from owning their own properties (like depreciation). As a result, Adam moves into Bob's house, Bob moves into Adam's.

Now, after depreciation, each brother is taking a loss from investment property and therefore pays less taxes. Nothing has changed in terms of expenses - all payments remain the same, but now they both have a small tax loss to offset their wage income.

Does this seem right? Is it legitimate? Why doesn't everyone do it? Other than depreciation recapture (they both plan on selling within 3 or moving back for 2 to take the 250k exclusion) what else am I missing?
