your parents earn roughtly $155000 (before tax), you go to stony brook university, received enough finicial aid and scholarship that the parents only have to pay $10,000. you can go home every three weeks, there is a room for you in queens in a single family home in convenient location. food is covered for you. you get $1000 a year for clothes, and $200 every months except three months, which is $100. is it fair?
what if you go to a "normal college" because everyone knows that stony brook is for poor students.

I think you should go to the local community college and work to support yourself.

It is more than fair. Your parents are not obligated to pay anything for your college or to give you any additional money or any place to live once you are 18 and out of high school. I know many people who are working full time while going to school full time to support themselves. Be grateful for the opportunities that you have been given, and stop worrying about if it is "fair" or not.

Hahahaha. You are fortunate with what your parents are providing you. You are at college to learn not to compare financial status. Besides, it sounds as if your parents are wealthy but that doesn't mean you are wealthy. You are broke and dependent on them for financial help. You should do your very best in college and then your parents for their help. They are under no obligation to pay for school at all for you. You sound spoiled and selfish. You need to change or you are going to have a very unhappy future.

NOTHING is 'fair'. Get over it. If they EARNED the money, why shouldn't they spend it however they want?

Universities are for people who want to learn, not for "poor" students. Please grow up and stop asking stupid questions.
