I am considering a career in as a sonographer. It seems like an exciting career and it would also give me a great sense of accomplishment. I was going to school to become a nurse, but the idea of being a sonographer first seems like a better goal for me right now.
Is there anyone out there who has that career or is considering it like me? How long does it take to get your license? ( I have about 2 years of college completed already) How much do they usually make?
Thanks for the help!

My parents gave a gift of stock in 1995. In 2005 I sold it and closed the brokerage account. I was under the impression that the cost basis was the market value at the time of the gift. The stock depreciated slightly from 1995 to 2005 so I didn't report capital gains to the IRS. I got a notice from IRS the other day saying that I owe taxes based on the cost basis that the brokerage reported. (based on the original purchase by my parents in 1989)

Last August or September, I made two purchases from a company that does home parties; one I did online, the other from the consultant. They totalled over $150. Both were paid using my debit Mastercard. No money has been withdrawn from my checking account for either transaction. I verified that the correct account number was used in both cases. The company shows that I paid. What are the chances that they will discover the mistake and then take the money out? It's annoying having these things outstanding when balancing my checkbook, but I don't want to put them back in and then end up bouncing something when they discover the error.

I WANT TO GET RID OF THIS CREDIT CARD I'VE HAD FOR A WHILE NOW. IT WAS MY FIRST. MY CREDIT LIMIT IS LIKE $300. (NOT CLOSE TO ENOUGH FOR AIRLINE TICKETS) I REQUESTED A CREDIT LINE INCREASE BUT WAS DENIED. WHILE OTHER CARD ARE AT A MIN. OF $2,500. HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT WITHOUT HURTING MY CREDIT SCORE. AND KEEPING IT OPEN WOULD EFFECT MY POTIENTIAL DEBT TO INCOME RATIO, CORRECT? IT HAS NO BALANCE.

I want to let go of my home, I just want out. If I release the property to the mortgage company will I still be responsible for the difference of what I owe & what they auction it for? I have missed one payment so far and have looked into doing a 13 but if I don't wnat the home anyway (can't sell, owe 30k more than what they are selling for, no equity, & can't afford it) then can I release the title to the mortgage company and will they come after me (garnish wages) for the difference after the auction?

I am getting ready to enter my senior year in high school, and after I graduate, I am interested in going to school to become a sonographer; specifically, an Obstretic Gynecological (OB/GYN) Sonographer. How much schooling is needed to persue a career in this field?? And where can I get this schooling from? ..Do I need to go to a college, or are there technical/vocational schools that are an alternative?

thanks for your time and answers :)

I am 23 and I have insurance coverage thanks to my dad's workplace. I am currently pregnant. Would I lose this insurance is I were to get married? My fiance is still a student, and I do not think we will have enough time for him to receive a job with benefits before the baby arrives.

Thanks

Have an idea for chef/kitchen clothing line, and possible material usage or the idea of a type of material. The designs are still on the drawing board, but they can be produced easily.

I want to know, to all you culinary buffs/students/chefs, what are the positives and negatives about school??? what do you absolutely love, or hate about it? also, what is your current job? (while you are going thru school) Any other interesting opinions about culinary school are welcome. :) thanks!

I know margin interest is only deductible up to the amount of net invesment income I've received. Does that mean if I have $10k in short term capital gains and $10k in short term capital losses for a given year--IOW, no overall net gain--that I can't deduct margin interest? Thanks in advance.
