Last August or September, I made two purchases from a company that does home parties; one I did online, the other from the consultant. They totalled over $150. Both were paid using my debit Mastercard. No money has been withdrawn from my checking account for either transaction. I verified that the correct account number was used in both cases. The company shows that I paid. What are the chances that they will discover the mistake and then take the money out? It's annoying having these things outstanding when balancing my checkbook, but I don't want to put them back in and then end up bouncing something when they discover the error.

I've worked for a bank before and the company has up to 2 years to deduct that from your bank account. The hold up can be that the company you bought the product from just hasn't sent the charge into the bank but the company could have already verified the payment. The only thing you can do is just keep the money in there, I'd say after 2 years then just let it go and that they won't charge you. Also, the credit card company might not have put the charge on your card yet, sometimes it will take them forever to process it and you should call the credit card company to see what their policy is about that.

I don't know for sure, but after a couple of months pass it should go off of the company's books. I wouldn't think that they would still take it out. To the company, they already took the money out. They wouldn't hastle you over $150 this far past.
