I'm thinking about going back to school for cooking/baking/pastry... i've read a little about it online so i don't want any websites or "facts". I want to know, to all you culinary buffs/students/chefs, what are the positives and negatives about school??? what do you absolutely love, or hate about it? also, what is your current job? (while you are going thru school) Any other interesting opinions about culinary school are welcome. :) thanks!

Baking and pastry is one of the hottest jobs around here right now. Everyone's hiring. And they all want schooling first.

From what I've heard from friends is that school can be tough and grueling, they want to make sure you know your stuff. The instructors will make you feel lower than dirt. If you can deal with that and put your heart and soul into it, you'll be fine.

However, when you land a job, the Chef will usually leave you alone to do your job and not interrupt.

Good luck! I've cooked professionally for over 8 years.
