Is that an amount, or a weight?

in english it could be both. Gross vehicle weight for example is the total weight of vehicle loaded to capacity. Vehicle weight plus load. Gross amout is the amout of a bill or a paycheck or tax return before any deductions are removed. It can also be something that is awful. Like in that tastes gross.
It is also a quanity of goods 12 boxes of 12 items would be a gross as well. It remides me of trying to explain write, right and right to someone. Right turn, you are right! English is so so confusing

Since you posted under taxes, I will answer as the term is used in taxes. There is NO actual number. 'Gross' refers to the total amount of something before any 'adjustments' are made.

I use the 3M sponges with the green scrubby on one side. I Squeeze it out AFTER using it as dry as I can. Every two days or Once a week I put it in a cup of waster and MICROWAVE it to boil the water. It kills ALL THE BACTERIA. IF you have a Sponge THAT SMELLS, THROW IT AWAY! Thanks, RR
