I provided two checks, one for an application fee, and one for a deposit with $100 non-refundable on the deposit. On a Sunday, I called to inform the apartment manager I would not be renting from her, and two days later my check was cashed. Is it legal for them to cash the check without me signing a lease, and can they make a claim for the $100 non-refundable portion of the deposit simply because they decided to cash it?

I have worked for $1 a hour that was the going wage. I was unskilled & in high school. Raising the minimum wage is not going to help anyone. when you are forced to raise someones pay ,1 of 2 things happen. You either raise the price of your product or you lay people off. If I am working for someone & i make $.10 over minimum & the owner has to raise the wage $.25 then I want a raise. so who loses the person he was going to hire when he has me for that 10 cents more. It is a circle. no one wins. why not let the market decide the wage? If no one will work for what you are offering wont you have to offer more? why should millionaires decide my bussiness?

I was officially divorsed in January of 2006. I filled as single last year because I had been seperated for six months and thats what the tax office told my ex that if we were seperated we could file single. Anyway. I moved in with my new BF (now fiance) in April of 2006 and we had a baby in September. I am claiming our daughter, MY QUESTION IS.... can I file as Head of Household since my Fiance and I are not married or will I just have to file as single.

My tenant has turned the gas & electric utility off on themselves and are still living in the property. My concern is that the property will become damaged (pipes freezing) and it is not safe. What should I do? I am currently in the process of their eviction but in the meantime if I have the utilities turned on in my name I will incur the cost. Help....

I have pre-tax medical and retirement taken out but when I calculate out how much of my total gross I take home, the percentages indicate the taxes are being calculated on total earnings, not the total after pre-tax deductions. I thought that was the benefit of pre-tax deductions - you didn't get taxed on it. If anyone knows of the legal writings for payroll practices, I would like to know, thanks.

Ive just seen an advert for a company called Onebill, they take care of your monthly bills and you just have to make one payment a month, I'm sure they charge you in some way, but it does interest me. Do you have any experience of a service like this? Is it any good? Cheers

This might not last, but what would you do w/ 32 manhours a day, internet access, basic office supplies and computers? I'm open to both the mundain and evil genious type ideas.
