To add to what Wayne Z said (and he's correct) - the mileage rate the IRS allows for 2006 is 44.5 cents per mile.

Keep in mind that it is an itemized deduction subject to a 2% of income deduction so don't be surprised if it nets you nothing or close to nothing.

think it is about 32 cents a mile and yes you can claim the difference.
