A title company will do it and charge you.
You can go to the county recorders office and look some stuff up yourself.
I called my recorder and had them check for any leins once.
What are you looking for? A lien?

Look for a title search company in your area, it will cost a couple hundred dollars. All information that they find in also pubic records, you can search records at the county clerks office, but if you don't know what you are doing then it is safer to just hire someone.

Check the county records which are in some areas available online. Otherwise, do a formal request from the county.
