I applied for a county government job. I went to the interview more than 2 weeks ago and still no answer. The interviewer told me it takes 2-3 weeks by mail to notify you to for a 2nd interview if you make it. I haven't got a call or letter whether I passed or not. Is the wait long? Should I call and ask if the job has been taken? Does any government worker have experience with this process? How does the government interview process compare to private industry (ie. is it harder or easier)? To be exact it's going to be 3 weeks since my interview this Friday. I know in private industry if they really want you they call you right away but in government I'm not so sure because of all the red tape and bureaucracy. Does this mean they don't want me? I did all the correct steps, thank you letter and everything. Btw this is for the auditor controller LA county. Thanks

I have a one year old son and need to find a job. I cannot afford a babysitter or daycare. I need a stay at home job or one that will let me bring my son to work with me. I really like working on commission, but don't seem to be successful at sales. I recently joined AFLAC. I want to be successful with them and believe if I learn their methods of operation I can make it work. Am I being too idealistic in believing I will be successful? I get $50 a week and it usually cost me $15 a week to eat lunch a school. (I don't eat anything though.I'm dealing with an eating disorder that my family doesn't even know about...... but that's another story.)
But when my Older sister ever needs cigaratts, she'll ask me and if I don't have any money, she'll tell mama that I'm broke. They'll ask me all these questions about how and where I spent it......
I don't know anything else to tell them. They DON"T need to know what I'm doing and I can take care of myself. What I'm doing is my business, but I need a few more stories to tell them for now, otherwise, I'll be cut off from the money. Got any ideas???

My package was shipped on 10-10-06. It was supposed to arrive on 10-12. I was home on 10-12 through 10-14 and they never showed or called. It turns out after contacting the customer service line that they had new people who could not find my house (which is EASY ton find and i've had many fed ex and other packages sent there). I want to sue them for my time(i should have been at work) and stress. How do i do this? I can't afford a lawyer and don't want to waste much more of my time, but i feel like i deserve to be given proper compensation.

One of my supervisors just called me up to see if I could work overtime on a project I was supposed to be helping her with all afternoon, only she's just now done with her end of it and it's 30 minutes to closing time. Normally I would stay and help, but I have plans tonight and I can't stay. I told her I'd come in early tomorrow to help but she said it has to be finished by tonight. Then I made the mistake of saying, "Well, I've been ready to help you all afternoon, and you weren't finished yet." So now she's mad. What do you think I should do? I don't want to get fired...

My boss has been a real jerk and an utter nightmare lately over really stupid, inconsequential stuff. It's like he's a megalomaniac who is set on making everyone miserable. What are some non-threatening, silly little things that I can do to get back at him? Of course, it would have to be anonymous and clandestine!
