Actually I know they can not just keep the money or say "oh well" they have to report this to the Government, then send it to some place and wait to be claimed... that is what I need to know... who or what do I go to retrieve the money.

In reality most paycheck have a note on them saying, if not chased with in xxxx amount of days (example: 180) the check becomes void.

You need to make sure that if you checks had a note like that, if not keep contacting your employer

It was a paycheck that was a dumb mistake to make most checks expire, yes they report the check they made out to the government. But because you did not cash the check and because it was your fault your employer did not steal anything from you they gave it to you, but you decided at the time it wasn't important so you have to take a loss. Next time think about this before you do it again. I don't think you have a right to talk to your employer about it they had no fault in it, it was all your stupidity baby.

Most expire in 6-12 months. IF your employer doens't want to help you out you might be SOL or you'd have to sue.

Most paychecks are voided if not cashed within a year. It depends on if the check has been issued. If they issued it and you didn't cash it, its probably voided. Do you have to fight them for it?
