Trying to validate this as a ligitimate bank, would tel: +447040117648 be a valid UK phone number?

no this is not a recognised bank (well i dont recognise it)

and that is a mobile number! all numbers which start 00447 or +447 (07 here) are mobiles

its a con

I've seen this question before. And i'm sure it came with an adress on High Holborn, London WC1. I did a search at the time but nothing came up. I think the person that gave you the Bank of England number is best option so far. Or try the Financial Ombudsman Service if you get no joy at the bank.

It’s NOT a UK bank as far as I know…& to reiterate what Pretty Helen said - any UK number starting with +447 would be a mobile (cell) phone number…no legitimate bank would have that sort of number.

search engine turns up no bank by this name in the uk. There are

Thats not a proper number.. maybe a mobile but would a bank hand you a mobile phone number?

National city is an american bank... they can be phoned on
(888) 622-4932 (US number)

Your bieng ripped off trust me.

If he is using 070 numbers - it's a scam If he is using yahoo, hotmail or any other free email accounts - it's a scam If you are being promised a lottery win, inheritance, job or large share of money in return for help getting money out of a foreign country - it's a scam. If you want to forward the email to me, I'll tell you for sure.
