I applied for a county government job. I went to the interview more than 2 weeks ago and still no answer. The interviewer told me it takes 2-3 weeks by mail to notify you to for a 2nd interview if you make it. I haven't got a call or letter whether I passed or not. Is the wait long? Should I call and ask if the job has been taken? Does any government worker have experience with this process? How does the government interview process compare to private industry (ie. is it harder or easier)? To be exact it's going to be 3 weeks since my interview this Friday. I know in private industry if they really want you they call you right away but in government I'm not so sure because of all the red tape and bureaucracy. Does this mean they don't want me? I did all the correct steps, thank you letter and everything. Btw this is for the auditor controller LA county. Thanks

I think for any government job it is going to take longer than expected. I applied for a govt job and they said they wanted to hire someone right away and would let me know that next week. But things came up beyond their control and the process took longer than that. Just be patient. All you can do now is sit back and wait. If it is the right job for you, you will get it.

Unless you are politically connected, you're out of luck for most government jobs. They'll hire a friend of a friend... sometimes it's just a pay-off for past favors. Believe me... you can have all the experience in the world and the political buddy won't have any... he'll get the job, and I guarantee it. If you want a political job, decide on your party affiliation and start going to meetings and making donations. Your time will come, and you'll get a job.

i did no longer locate out til approximately 2 weeks or so after my interview. government takes a protracted time to technique issues. now and returned a month. i could carry a splash longer, then call decrease back asking if the situation had be crammed, or ask what's the present status on that activity. stable luck! I waited a month from handing my resume to getting the activity!

until the present administration is removed for good, it will probably take about 7 years. vote for a homo, vote republican!!
