I leased a credit card machine for a business but now that the business is closed, I no longer use it. I've asked the company if I could get out of my lease but they won't let me break it unless I pay the remaining months plus a fee. Am I getting screwed or is this normal? There is nothing wrong w/ the machine, it's just not being used any longer.

After getting trapped with the unrealistic service charges and unfriendly customer service of ICICI I am planning to shift my entire Business and Personal accounts to another new genration bank. Which is better HDFC/Centurion Bank of Punjab/IndusInd/ING Vyasya Bank/UTI Bank. What is your opinion about State Bank of India?

I am currently looking for a new job and have a cv, I apply to lots of organisations but never seem to get asked for an interview. I wondered if I had a professional cv and covering letter I would have a better chance of getting the job I want.

I heard that there are leeches that watch the patent office applications and steal good ideas, rush them through development, and get them patented before the "average joe" can. They apparently have the money and connections to do this. What can I do to avoid this? I have a great idea but little funding.

When I was 19 years old I managed to get a job as an assistant to a mortgage loan consultant.

When I got the job (through strong persuasion and by carrying myself well) I felt on-top of the world. At the age of 19 I was making $32,000/yr and that was pretty good I thought. At first I felt a strong sense of respect from my boss. But now, he just treats me like ****, our incompetent processor realized that every time she screws up she can easily blame me and does so. Even when I prove my case…I don’t get an “I’m sorry” after receiving very very insulting emails like; “I work sooo hard to build my reputation and I’m not going to let anyone, including you, ruin it.”

The funny thing is that he wants me to work for him for at least 3 years. I mean I go out of my way for him and he knows it. I sometimes work on Saturdays (and I don’t get paid because I’m salaried) and many times come in early or even leave very late to help him with his loans.

This property is a Notice of Default. This is the initial document filed by an attorney or trustee on behalf of the foreclosing lender that starts the foreclosure process. The estimated loan balance is $12196. Does this mean the house is for sale for the amount it shows.

This is the first time I have received one of these. The interest income totaled $53. I don't remember getting a check from them for this amount. I had $1,500 or so overpayments the last two years. I didn't think the IRS would pay you interest for the amount of time they had your overpayment. With as low as interest rates were around this time I wouldn't think that would add up to $53 in interest.

The description reads: The amount of interest paid to you in the calendar year shown (2005) is on an overpayment of federal tax.

$53 bucks in interest I never expected. Is this the new IRS I've been hearing about? :-)

I'm really nervous. I've been out of a job since October of 2005 and that job that i had I was with for more than 5 years. Therefore, it's been a real long time since I've had an interview. I already know a few questions they will probably ask, like: Do you have any questions for me? (towards the end of the interview); What are you going to be able to contribute to our company? (or something like that), etc. If I know a bunch of possible questions, I can practice how I'm going to answer, maybe even role-play with a friend, like they are the manager. Please help.

Okay, i owe the bank money in which is really really behind. Does he have the right to call a person that is not even in the reference when i initially applied for the loan??? When i applied for a loan i told him that i know this such and such person and he remembered and called and told that person the amount I owe and the time its been late and to tell me to pay or they will sue??? i'am going to pay in full but i want to confront him personally about this... what to do???? obviously, i was having some problem, but to make it worst, this person told my mother and my sister first and my sister told my cousin to tell me... now, everybody knows and everybody is calling, telling me how embarrasing this is for our family.

I need something that makes ok money, enough for modest rent. I would rather shoot myself in the head than lab tech again. What other options might be available to me? Should I just find a job and use my free time to volunteer to build up practical experience? I've applied to local museums, and that's the sort of thing I'm hoping to find. Any other ideas?
