How do you tell your boss to chew with their mouth closed?

She smacks the hell out of her food, and smacks her mouth after shes done eating, its annoying and its gross. She is so un lady like and shes from new york, you can't tell her anything with it being personal.

My desk is right next to her office and I can hear hear, even with the door close. I feel like an going to just explode one day.

I'm not sure you should say anything. Maybe if you just stare at her mouth while she's eating she will become aware of what she is doing, but chances are that since she's already an adult and eats like that, that she'll never change the habit. Try not to eat with her. Or maybe you could have someone video-tape her, don't do it like if your are just taping her, just say you are trying to make a fun video of your work-place. Then ask her if she wants to see the tape, it might work, but once again, she probably won't even see herself as having a problem. Or invite an outspoken friend to lunch with you some day. If your friend says something then I don't think she can fire you.

Is she Asian? Most Asians do this and burp abruptly out loud. Ask her if she's ever considered chewing with her mouth closed. Or laugh out loud at her when she's eating. When she asks you why you're laughing tell her "It's a joke you're chewing that way right?" Maybe she'll get the hint. OR just don't be in her presence when she's eating. Good luck.

I agree this is a disgusting habit and horrible to be on the receiving end of...but as shes your boss it may be wiser just to grin and bear it....
