Please read my "How to survive a heartbroken read through?" question and then help me with part 2:

Now that I have great advice helping my son get over it, how do I get over it? The shock has worn off and now I'm hugely offended and insulted that my son got dissed and frankly I know I will have a lot of trouble respecting this director and pulling off my part during this play. I think another theater member who did decline to be involved after getting dissed herself did the right thing. But my son wants to do it anyways. So we're in. I admit he's being the better person here.

Any advice in how to successfully work with this director in this play in these circumstances? When his shocking replacement sings the whole play off key and off pitch can I think "I told you so?" Help me to stop being bitter!

Hi there,

I am a first-year teacher at a high school and am directing the school play. I have approximately 18 students (6 males, 12 females) interested in acting. Nobody is turned down from a part. Musicals are out of the picture due to a lack of music department at the school. We would prefer a comedy/farce (previous choices have been "The Imaginary Invalid" and "You Can't Take It With You"). "Barbequeing Hamlet" was a choice, but another local high school just performed this. Because this is at a high school level, it cannot be too risque. Obscure plays are OK, and even encouraged! Interaction is OK, too! Browsing through script catalogues, way too many plays are a.) for male-dominated casts and b.) incredibly cheesy with their "dealing with high school issues" sort of way. Thanks!

HERE ARE SOME DETAILS::
01. The play lasted for a FULL WEEKEND.
02. It came to Columbia, South Carolina in 2004.
03. It's Japanese.
04. There's kings, queens, princesses and princes.
05. It's kind of like a Japanese version of Romeo and Juliette, but there's ghosts, there's dancing, LOTS AND LOTS of the character's faces painted white(the base) and plenty of other colors(the designs). I do not remember the title, but I'll recognize it when I see it.

How should I control my nerves before i go on stage as I am not the most confident of performers and also, I have always been a bit of a mumbler and on stage it can come through a little and hinder my joke telling and performance. Please help me out! Cheers, and I will choose a bet answer at the end.

My friend was just wondering something. She loves the musical Wicked and when she gets older and if she can try out, she's just curious what part would be good for her. This is basically her whole profile.

Height: 4 10"

Weight:110

Hair Color: Redish Brownish

Eye Color: Brown

Skin Color: White

Vocal Range: Soprano (pretty high)

Strong Points for Glinda: Popular, Thank Goodness, Dear Old Shiz
For Good, Finale, What Is This Feeling, Defying Gravity

Strong Points for Elphaba: No Good Deed, Defying Gravity, The Wizard and I, As Long As Your Mine, Something Bad, For Good, What Is This Feeling, parts of I'm Not That Girl

Strong Points for Nessarose: Dancing Through Life, The Wicked Witch of the East

Dancing Level: Somewhere between Intermediate and Advanced.

Let me know what you think!

My school is doing "Big River", a musical based on 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn'. As such, the word n*gger appears several times in the play. (It's also in the book, written by Mark Twain). The director decided to change each occurence of it to '*****'. Agree/disagee??????
It's a Christian school, in Minnesota, and there are very few african people who live in the area. Mostly scandinavians and germans.
