My friend was just wondering something. She loves the musical Wicked and when she gets older and if she can try out, she's just curious what part would be good for her. This is basically her whole profile.

Height: 4 10"

Weight:110

Hair Color: Redish Brownish

Eye Color: Brown

Skin Color: White

Vocal Range: Soprano (pretty high)

Strong Points for Glinda: Popular, Thank Goodness, Dear Old Shiz
For Good, Finale, What Is This Feeling, Defying Gravity

Strong Points for Elphaba: No Good Deed, Defying Gravity, The Wizard and I, As Long As Your Mine, Something Bad, For Good, What Is This Feeling, parts of I'm Not That Girl

Strong Points for Nessarose: Dancing Through Life, The Wicked Witch of the East

Dancing Level: Somewhere between Intermediate and Advanced.

Let me know what you think!

I would have to say Glinda at your best because Elphaba's range is really flexible. In "I'm Not That Girl", her voice range goes from a high C# down to a low E natural, just below the middle C. Glinda does dance a lot in Wicked, and she has intricate dancing routines in which her work would be cut out for your friend. Unless if she can belt a low range, she can also play Elphaba, yet she also has some intricate dancing too, but only in Act I. Nessarose, uhmm....I do not think so because she does more acting than singing, but I have no idea if she is great with acting or not. However, I would personally go with Glinda. Even though she has Reddish-Brownish hair, and in the book she is a blonde, they can easily work with that. but she should seriously go for Glinda base on her dancing ability and voice range, and singing.

Elphaba is not written for a soprano, she's written for a mezzo. And unless your friend has the low alto voice to complement her soprano range, Elphaba's definitely not the part for her. Some of the sustained low notes (i.e. the closing note in I'm Not That Girl) are a stretch for people trained in the lower registers, and I can't imagine they'd be any fun for people with higher voices.

It sounds like your friend has the means, physically and vocally, to be a strong Glinda. Hope all goes well for her. :]

hair color and skin color dont matter for elphaba, she is painted and wears a wig anyways, and there is a wig for glinda too. but i think for glinda she has to hit a little bit higher than a B, so i would say nessarose and elphaba. As for dance, the ensemble has wonderful dance numbers, and if she really is intermediate to advance dancer with that range, than there is a good chance to get into the show as an understudy, which then can get you principle, so she should try.

I've seen the show and she would probably be best as Glinda.
