Look Deeper

The world of darkness I have created continues to grow darker.
There is nothing solid-- not that there ever was.
I look at myself hoping to find the little girl I lost.
But all I see is a stranger looking back at me.

I look deeper and still I cannot recognize this girl.
I want peace, but continue to surround myself with conflict.
I can never validate myself; I have to look to others.
This is how it has always been.

I always hit a brick wall when my emotions start to take control.
This mental roadblock is solid, but not something worth keeping.
There is no rational in my mind, only chaos.
Nothing I ever decipher makes sense.

Everything is so intense for me and my grip on it is too weak.
My connections both internal and external are diminishing.
It is the same cycle that I try hard to break.
But I do not have the confidence to break it.

The real me is toxic, that is all I see.
That person is not worth knowing.
That is very sad indeed, because everyone has worth.
I have never been able to find my own though.

There is good in me and there is bad.
Every time I attempt to look deeper, I close my eyes.
I do not want to know this stranger.
But she needs me.

What poem and why??

2007-07-14 13:39:25 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous

would you lovely people mind telling me what you think of my poem?

I'm more of a thoughtful analysis sort of person, but I happened to find this sandwiched between momentum equations and trig notes in my notebook and I thought it to be one of my better poems. So, here goes:

I like the idea of 'kind of perfect',
of the sweet resonation of chords
accompanying sweeter sounds spoken.
Simple spontaneity.
Planning may equal perfection,
but sometimes 'sort of' is better than 'all of'.
How beautifully brevity can result.
He who said 'What is started must be finished,'
obviously overlooked the in-betweens.
No, perfection hardly matters when heart takes the stage.

GOODBYE, ROMEO
by Saint John
from the forthcoming album "All That I Bleed"

Montagues and Capulets;
Omniscient in their love's
Betrayals and desecrations
Forgiving: one's false aplombs

(verse)
Thus, I have been true to YOU!
Too star-crossed to see...
Captive of my own verities;
I writhe to be deemed!

Is there naught to extricate
A romance's remonstrance?
Beatific within oneself--
I digress with lips pressed to chance...

(chorus)
Hands once clasped by letting go
Goodbye Juliette, goodbye Romeo

(verse)
Interpolated bygones and byfores
A rose's tomb in a sunken palm--
Withering with each thorned season
To save for the promise of dawn?

I reason with devotion,
Parting ways to save eminence--
Please grant me immunity,
A supplicant's privation of circumstance

(chorus)

Tinder tenderness, almost admired...

A rose in my sunken palm
Shall one day grow
For a fair maiden I cantillate--
I, Romeo...

(finding my family)

Tiny World

Swinging in the breezes
From adjacent family
Unraveling I
Tried to tie
Fray rope flying free
Stained and weathered
Not fully severed
Looking for a place to be……..

Swinging in the breezes
From adjacent family

Spinning in tornadic winds
Relief ahead I spy
Warm air flowing
Through my hair
A rainbow in my site
A final snap
The rope let’s go
Spiraling am I?

Swinging in the breezes
From family of mine

Plummeting an abrupt stop
On the colors of the world
Swinging legs on a rainbow
Relieved to what’s unfurled
The winds died down
And removed the frown
The frown
From a little girl

Now,

Singing in the breezes
Of this very tiny world

Full Moon

I knew
A man
His name
Was Tom
He could
Not keep
His blue
Jeans on
He was
Not fat
He was
Not thin
His jeans
Just slipped
Right off
Of him
He wore
A belt
And pulled
It tight
He thought
That this
Would make
Things right
But, then
He knew
He thought
Too soon
And walked
On home
With a
Full moon!

i wrote this poem, wonderin what you thaught of it;;

Darkness..

My thoughts are locked in my head,
No body cares about my worries,
So I keep them shut in inside,
They slowly eat away at me,
Putting pressure on my mind.

I lie in the darkness,
Alone and afraid,
I lie in the darkness,
No way to escape.

I live in the corner of the room,
Hiding. Disappearing into the shadows,
Away from all the people of the world,
The ones that hurt me,
That make me cry myself to sleep.

I lie in the darkness,
Alone and afraid,
I lie in the darkness,
No way to escape.

Everyone looks, everyone judges,
They see the scars and turn away,
They hate me from the start,
Don’t bother to get to know,
Just end up breaking my heart,
Left to face the world alone.

Ripple

I gaze with clarity
upon translucent water,
an image of what was
neither drinking,
nor moving,
lest a drop distort.

Nothing remains the same.

What is there to say
that hasn’t been said. Can we
capture in a shell the power of
what we felt? Cup our hands to hear
rushing waves—echoes of words
unspoken.

Nothing will ever be the same.

We clung like morning mist
under an unforgiving sun.
Tracing what had already been traced.
Fingers outstretched, grasping
like pale rivulets running down our bodies.
I loved you once, perhaps you loved me;
but how does that matter?
You are no longer here,
lost in the shimmer and expanse
of ripples spreading apart

I tell you, nothing is the same anymore.

Poetry of Lewis Carroll
A VALENTINE

[Sent to a friend who had complained that I was glad enough to see him when he came, but didn't seem to miss him if he stayed away.]

And cannot pleasures, while they last,
Be actual unless, when past,
They leave us shuddering and aghast,
With anguish smarting?
And cannot friends be firm and fast,
And yet bear parting?
And must I then, at Friendship's call,
Calmly resign the little all
(Trifling, I grant, it is and small)
I have of gladness,
And lend my being to the thrall
Of gloom and sadness?
And think you that I should be dumb,
And full DOLORUM OMNIUM,
Excepting when YOU choose to come
And share my dinner?
At other times be sour and glum
And daily thinner?
Must he then only live to weep,
Who'd prove his friendship true and deep
By day a lonely shadow creep,
At night-time languish,
Oft raising in his broken sleep
The moan of angu

Seemingly walking
Alone in this world
I am not talking
My tears say the words
Emotions that haunt me
Test what I can endure
But they cannot break me
I am strong enough
Im sure
And the pain i'm awaiting
To flee from inside
Leaves a deep scare
To hidieous to hide

Poem

Hopeless Romantic

Theres no need for you to notice

I'll still wait for you here in silence

I don't mind if you don't care

But I'll still try to make the doorway sympathetic and have you there when I open it again

It's okay if you just think of me as another friend

Still the window might be nice and let me glimpse you one last time

I'm okay with a distance but I'm still hoping the mirror will show me with you

I can try to ignore you

But I'll still wish that this time my blurry eyes will show you at my doorstep

Maybe you don't care

I'll still try to fight the dark with visions of your face

Fight it all you want

But I'll still wait with all my heart

And why

She said maybe in some years
She'll miss the crowds and miss the chears
But now she hears this guy trash talking
She's working out, she does fast walking

I must admit she's lQQking good
Her bikini fits just like it should
And Rocky had these moments too
If theres a dare, he followed thru

How can he keep saying stuff
Haven't I pounded him enough
Oh what the hell I need a thrill
Just make sure he has a will

He is calling her a liar
It gets her mad, she's now on fire
He said that what you told the crowd
It wasn't true, but said it loud

Oh that thing about his love
And then I nailed him with my glove
I really said That when this fight is all done
My hubby's making a beer run

And then I'll dance up on a table
For as long as I am able
And if my clothes go everywhere
If men don't touch then he don't care

Now she steps into the ring
And in the few the bell will ring
I see the odds aren't very good
But I will bet her like I should

She's looking good all dressed in gold
But now she's in a strangle hold
She whispers something in his ear
It wasn't loud it wasn't clear

From where I'm sitting in the stands
I try to look but see no hands
But now he's looking all excited
He says to her, am I invited

I quess it was a dirty trick
She hit him hard, like from a brick
And then he's stumbling round and round
And now he's fallen to the ground

He says to her that shot was cheap
But with that breath he fell asleep
Her hands now pounding to her chest
I told you guys I was the best

As we're watching our tv
She switches it to UFC
She says these guys look really tough
Most are slim and really buff

She says she likes this guy called Ice
She says he's cute and really nice
She says that with a well built bra
That in that sport she could go far

I can't believe what you are saying
This ain't no game these guys are playing
Just a kick to someone's nose
Can rattle him right to his toes

She says she has a real good right
Just hit them once and say good night
I think my wife has lost her mind
These guys play rough and they ain't kind

I think she took it as a dare
She wants to fight and she don't care
She says no matter what the size
Her fists feel strong, their energized

Lying in a pool of death
Struggling to catch my breath
My blackened heart was once aglow
But now the beat is faint and slow

Disintigrating rapidly
The physical takes leave of me
I cast my mortal self aside
And all that's left is what's inside

I fly away with just my mind
Answers I don't need to find
From the Earth I've been released
And all that's left is warmth and peace

Fading away

My dreams are there
abstract and created differently
You never looked anywhere
So you think there's nothing there to see

Why do you have to treat me like that?
Am I the only one you try to ingnore?
Is it because I love you too much to react?
That I keep falling more and more?

But you don't know, and you can't see me
You just stand there knowing what you do
But you can't touch and you can't feel me
Yet you don't want to know the truth

I'm falling and you dont want to give a try
I know whats the reason, what happened, and why
I want you to catch me because i can't fly
But you don't want your reputation to pass by

Your scared of falling, of pain, of love
You haven't felt it and are reluctant to
But just a kiss from me will be enough
I reach out, but you push my hand away from you

This one is about the major issues of the world.

A Perfect World

A perfect world is a place in my dreams
Where violence and drugs could never exist
A world that can never become, it seems
While the gangs and dealers still persist
Turf wars go on as they fire in teams
When the people could stop it by clenching a fist
Children shoot liquids inside them in streams
The world has yet to even get the gist
People ignore all the cries and the screams
That pursue in the path of a hit man's list
No one catches the scandalous schemes
We expect all our people to coexist
When we smash all their hopes with hints and gleams
Of a better society, but all tries are missed
No more is there love in the list of our themes
Good times and happiness are only reminisced
No one can imagine why our world teems
With violence, yet thought of stopping it is only a mist
This is why a perfect world is a place of my dreams
Because the lines of this poem will be simply dismissed.

How is it?

There was a young girl
in tears
during the reception at
Charles Bukowski's house
following his burial.

A man asked his widow,
'is she a relative?".

"No...she lived across the street,
Hank loved her
and she adored him...
she may be taking his death
the hardest of any of us".

Every man should have
such a young girl in his life.

When I write my poem it's not to anyone specific.
Because in our own way, each person is terrific.
Which is why I'm so annoyed when some people say
things are so bad.
Most of the poems I read seem so very sad.
So please don't think I am simply trying to be an ***.
Whatever is bothering you. Remember this too shall pass.
