More accurately, it is an example of anthropomorphism.

Definition: Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena.

Wait...I'm not sure if you're posing the alliteration/personification as questions. Yes, this shows alliteration (clouds closed), personification (clouds can't close anything) and metaphor (the phrase is a comparison to evening/night)

This is personification, the clouds doing something that a person would do. However, "clouds closed" is also an example of alliteration. Do you have the choice of "both of the above?"

Simile- Using "as" to compare yourself to a cloud. Personification- Stating that a cloud has the ability to be lonely.

i would say alliteration because of "clouds" and "closed". because of the "c" sound. and personificaiton because clouds can not actually "close" afternoon.
