You have some wizard kids who have Muggle parents (like Hermione) and when they're asked if they want to live most of the year at a boarding Wizard school they all say yes. But wouldn't they miss things like their Muggle friends from their original schools? Or their favorite movies, TV shows, music, Muggle books, etc?

In the Chamber of Secrets, We learn more about the History of Hogwarts School. We learn that its about 1000 years old. We learn that Slytherin (one of the original 4) placed a giant serpent in the chamber of secrets. This of cause is about 1000 years ago. How come then the entrance to the chamber is through a toilet sink? Surely not even wizards and witches had mod-cons back then?

I want to write a prologue in the eyes of another person explaining some things that happened before the story occured, but I also want to have something in the beginning that is part of the novel, but doesn't follow the main character (there would be no other chapters focused on this one person.) I was wondering if it would be alright if I started with both of these together, but the first person is narrating half the prologue, and then having "***" divide the two and lead into the second half of the story (they go together.) Personally, I feel this may be a little too much to start off with. Does anyone have any tips that may help me start with this? I've been wanting to dtart writing for a long time, but this is the hardest part for me. I don't know how too. I wrote about twelve pages before scraping them before they were not strong enough. I want to do it right this time!

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

I am writing a collection of short erotic stories. All of the characters in the story are in the same town, and the stories could intertwine with each other into a larger story. One in particular will force/coerce many of the characters into participating in various acts, some taboo, immoral, or possibly illegal. Some characters will be willing to fall into his desires, but others may find it a bit shocking and will need to learn to enjoy the acts. This one controlling character (male) will need to have sufficient power/prestige to have 'bought' the police and have powerful connections, such that he would a) have little fear of being arrested, and b) could keep people from leaving the town by destroying them with rumors, imprisoning them, etc if they did. Given this, what ideas do you have for a background for this character? How did he get this power? Does a specific image come to your minds for how he should look? What kind of job do you see him in?

I have spent almost a year now writing my life story. My daughter read the first 40 pages about 10 months ago and told me that she was really impressed with it and couldn't wait until I finished it so she could read it all. I have now written over 400 pages and have gone over the first 200 pages twice to make sure that it's readable. I have done my best to make it a little humurous, but what I want now, is a few people, who are readers and have the time to read it, to go over some selected parts of the book and give me an honest opinion.
If you are interested could you please reply, and I will e-mail you with 10 or 20 pages.

Recently, I have decided to put an end to my countless hours playing video games on the computer because it has begun to affect my school work and is consuming all of my free time. So, to put an end to the addiction, I am looking for a few books to read since reading's addictiveness (if there is any) would probably be positive on my life.

I am looking for any book that is packed full of action either in the horror genre or some other really amazing action packed book that constantly keeps me on my toes.

I'm heading to the library tonight or tomorrow and would like a nice "feel good" book. I typically read a lot of Dean Koontz novels, but I just want something more light-hearted. I'll read just about anything. As a child two of my favorites were Heidi and The Secret Garden. What do you suggest?

Whenever I write fiction I have a lot of difficulty with tense. My verbs hardly ever sound right with what I'm trying to convey. For instance one of my first pieces was some kind of present progressive and it was a pain to read. Authors like Rowling and Leroux seem to have it down (I only use them as examples because I am reading their work). Can somebody please give me advice and list all tenses that exist in English and explain them? Thanks.
