Writing is easy, getting it published is not.
It's not that it's difficult per se, but it is excruciating work. You have to be diligent, don't give up, never be discouraged. If you work hard you will get published, provided you have that talent inside you, but I imagine that if you found writing your book to not be hard you have the talent.
Also, word to the wise: have some friends read your book before submitting it, sometimes people are blissfully unaware that they are horrible writers.

Well a well known author once said writing is easy. You just sit down in front of a typewriter and open a vein. That about says it all. Yes, it is all that difficult - and then some. An average author spends a month or more doing prep work before even writing a word. There are character studies, outlines, subplots, backstories... Then there is research. You have to be an expert on what you write about. That research is kind of never ending. You do a great deal at the beginning, then you continue to research as you write and questions come up. To write an average 100 - 140 thousand word novel takes about a year to 18 months for well known best selling authors to do. And that is working 5 - 8 hours a day every day.
A first novel can take several years to write. And then you have the second draft, the third draft and so on.
That doesn't even go in to the time it takes to get it published. Hope that helps. Pax-C

Then there is everything you'll need to know to get it published.
Literary agents, grammar, spelling, query letters, synopsis, outlining, manuscript formatting, publishing law, point of vew, genre, dialogue.
Your best bet is to go to the library or your favorite bookstore and pick up a few books that will tell you about what I've mentioned above.

For many, it's not all that difficult, but it is difficult to catch the attention of a publisher after you finish.
For a new writer... it is close to impossible to get a reputable publisher, but not impossible.

Why don't you try and let us know.
I have written magazine and newspaper articles for years but I can't seem to get a novel out of my head.
