Recently, I have decided to put an end to my countless hours playing video games on the computer because it has begun to affect my school work and is consuming all of my free time. So, to put an end to the addiction, I am looking for a few books to read since reading's addictiveness (if there is any) would probably be positive on my life.

I am looking for any book that is packed full of action either in the horror genre or some other really amazing action packed book that constantly keeps me on my toes.

Well I am a Horror, Suspense novel fan from way back!!! One of my favorites was INTENSITY by Dean Koontz. And let me tell you it sure lives up to its name, at one point I threw the book across the room (in a good way, not from frustration but intensness(if that is a word). I never put it down except to throw it and finished it in 2 days. And of course, the King of Horror, Stephen King. If you like the Silence of the Lambs series, Thomas Harris is an excellent writer and the books, of course, are way superior than the movies!!!! Much more graphic detail. Oh, the Funhouse by Dean Koontz is pretty cool too.

Stephen King is the best author in the horror genre. He is so talented. I read something once about where Bruce Springsteen was upset that while lunching with King, a girl ran up to them and totally ignoring him, said, "Oh my God, Stephen King! I love ur work, can I have ur autograph?" LOL.

Some of my favourite books of King's are:
Carrie (telekinesis)
The Shining (a small boy with a 'gift' of reading people's minds)
Salem's Lot (vampires)
Cujo (a Saint Bernard dog that becomes rabid)
Firestarter (a small girl with the 'gift' of pyrokinesis)
Christine (a 1950's car that is possessed)
Delores Claybourne (a woman telling her story to the police about how she killed her husband, very disturbing)
The Stand (a world where everyone except a very few people, succumb to a deadly epidemic)
Needful Things (a very weird story about a 'man' who lures people into his curio shop)

So many of his books have been made into movies. I love reading the books, but the movies don't do them justice. Actually, I can read horror, but I can't handle watching horror movies. Weird huh?

i do no longer understand if that's the form of element it truly is up your alley, yet i'm a extensive fan of horror fiction, and that i've got chanced on that the very perfect stuff to supply you that "dread" feeling, is the previous stuff. Victorian-era thoughts, truly short ghost thoughts, are SO wonderful from that factor. (as an occasion, Edgar Allen Poe's "tell-tale coronary heart" --leaves you with the worst feeling interior the pit of your abdomen.) you will locate a lot of books with collections. in case you liked "the ring", then you definately ought to look into analyzing jap horror. there is no longer something like it everywhere. They take evil to an entire new point. As for greater present day stuff, I enjoyed Peter Straub's "Ghost tale" P.S.--Susan had some sturdy suggestions, too. comparable concept...

I personally love the writings of Dean Koontz, Frank Peretti, and Ted Dekker.
It could be helpful to sign up for monthly emails from book stores (such as Borders). Each email will contain a discription of all the new books, it's also a good way to find authors to check out.

Personally, the only good horror I've ever read is Edgar Allen Poe and Dracula. Both free online. Dracula starts out pretty slow, but ends up being excellent.

Try "Cell" by Stephen King. Action started on the first page.

"It" was good as well - the only book to give me nightmares.
