I'm writing a humerous story for my english lit class.
I think it'd be great to name the characters after drinks.

So far I have Brandy and Jack Daniel.

Can you think of any more?

I intend to go to a book signing in a few weeks and was wondering what the etiquette was. Specifically, I want him to sign 3 copies of his new book: 1 for me and 2 for relatives of mine. Is this OK? Is it usual? Is this too pushy?

I really respect him and wouldn't want to irritate him by being vulgar.

I have an essay due tomorow and heres what it says for me to do if anyone has any suggestions how to write this essay or any good websites that show me how to write an official document if i was a writer to a publisher (Websites) okay here is the question???? Imagine that you are the author of your book. Write a letter to your publisher that serves two purposes. 1.speculate about two possible endingsto your story
2 discuss reasons for choosing or not choosing each of the possible endings .

My family just purchased "If I Did It" by OJ Simpson in order to benefit Ron Goldman's family. We got a huge kick out of reading the cover which has the title in huge, all-red-letter caps "I DID IT" and a tiny little " if " barely noticeable on the front cover. Since there is really no other way for the Goldmans to get the money that is due them for the wrongful death of their son, we thought it was a good way to show our support for the family. Does anyone else plan on buying it JUST to make sure the Goldman family gets the money they are due? And, if you buy it, do you think you'll read it or keep it as a collectible item...likely to be worth more money once OJ dies? How else do you plan on using it? (Clean and mature answers only, please. I don't like profanity.)

I do not want to self-publish. I am looking to apply to a publishing company with a query letter. I don't need help with the query letter. I need a list of publishing companies and their sites/addresses/web addresses/anything you can give me. I wrote a book aimed for a preteen & teenage audience having to do with a teenage girl protagonist who had to defeat vampires. What companies should I attempt to apply to? Does it matter if I pick one with a local base? (I live in southern NH) I'm not quite ready at this exact moment to find a company to pick up my book, but I realize I need to be thinking about possible companies. Any help would be gladly appreciated!!

The first hero's description paragraph in my novel is started like this:

As years passed, it became more difficult for people to find a good reason for Nicholas Darkeyes’ suspicious acts. His clothes were always worn dark and scruffy; it looked as though he wore them for weeks.

Okay, Nicholas is supposed to some weird unnatural powers, which will be magic. Should I only talk about the suspecious acts? like slow steps, worried looks and avoiding people? Or should I talk about those powers?

I've written for years. I only recently began networking (verrry slowly), since I'm still writing. I've taken a few courses, and now I blog (www.inkrecitals.blogspot.com). I'm wondering...is it better to write and then network; network and then write; do both at the same time? What would be a good balance? 50/50?

Dose anyone use writing as a method of therapy? If your not someone who necessarily, likes or wants, to pure your heart out to people (like me) is writing where you turn? Because I just now started to do it, and I gotta tell you. . . It feels pretty good! I never knew how good of a release it would be. I always tend to have a lot of thoughts on my mind, about a lot of different topics and writing really is a perfect way clear my mind.

So dose anyone else do that?

Hi I have a Fantasy Novel (The Red Stone) coming out soon (November 15th) and I was wondering if any of you have gone though promoting your own book or someone else's? And even if you have done neither of things your tips or suggestions will be most welcome. What do you think Hermione or Harry would have seen or experienced if they tried to kill the Horcrux? We all saw how the locket brought Ron to his knees, and I've wondered what Harry or Hermione's worst fears were. For Harry it would have to be something involving Ginny, but for Hermione I don't know.

Whilst there are numerous unforgettablle characters in his books, and I find it hard to choose one specific favourite, I think that Mr Micawber is probably to me the most memorable.

Who (or should that be 'which' character?) is your favourite or most memorable?, and what makes them so?

“Damaged”

the canvas can call tomorrow home
the art of chaos falling into patterns
breathing and dying take equal turns
when ashes fall, children clamor to claim
the damage of life, to be defined by the night
the physicality an afterthought to those
who mourn in the silence of their wombs
let the children carry illusions, leave candles lit
to claim an identity of the unknown
shredding respect of those who know.
death that seeped in, speaking in silent woes
clocks pass by eternal tomorrows
which children dream life to be
eyes can’t eclipse the difference
of what matters in between now and never
souls will know to expose their bones
beyond faces, a million layers never seen
sins too unspeakable to ever repent
fall into graves, answers never given
but gone, gone, gone, no asking tomorrow.

I have written, over the last several years, a book series of five books and i'm working on finishing book six, which is the last one. Book one is almost ready to be sent out for publishing. What i would like to know, if anyone can tell me, is if they know of any publishers that commonly publish fantasy-dragon writing.
Also, i know this is long but hear me out, I will be using a pen name but i'm not quite sure how that is done. does anyone have any ideas how authors get thier pen name established with a publishing company and the readers?

Any serious ideas please.

When I was a kid, my Mum used to read a book to us which neither of us can remember the title. Part of it goes like this :-

I like to visit the farm on the hill,
I like Aunt Bess & Uncle Bill.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,
Look who’s wearing an old straw hat.

Any ideas of the title would be great.

Thanks.
