I've been there, and I am "always thinkin," too. Sometimes I can't STOP thinking...and writing is very helpful. I wish I could just avoid caring so much about the world around me, but sadly, I am hardwired to think about stuff. Writing can be therapeutic, but it can also make me even MORE agitated at times.

I feel totally obsessed and sometimes I think that I should be doing other things and writing is just SO addictive. I think I can only write when I'm most busy and when I'm most busy I can't write. It's frustrating to the max!!! But I believe when I finally make it a career path, it will be the most wonderful experience in the world!! and I can WAIT!

I do find writing very therapeutic, but I mostly write poetry. I tend to get frustrated when I write stories, my dialog falls flat and I shift tense like a schizophrenic. But my poetry, it's like I can't help it..I sit and it pours out of me and I feel better for having written it. I also have found a new clarity to my thoughts in writing them out. And have also been able to come to terms with things that have been bothering me but that I have put aside dealing with. Good luck with your own writing and I hope you continue to enjoy it!

Therapy? I've never thought of writings as such. It's a pastime for me at this moment, and I do enjoy writing. If you got plenty of time just to write--it does feel pretty good. You end your day feeling satisfied, as if you've accomplished something.

i'm not sure that I write for therapy. I write, it is my nature. I'm good at doing it and i'm very good at being expressive as I don't stumble for words.
there is something to be said however if you are writing to get things out of your system. First it works, secondly you can explore on paper your feelings that might not otherwise be tangible to you.
I have a real concern for people who blog however because exposing your soft underside can be dangerous to someone who wants to harm you.
I recommend people write, but not on line

I didn't write for therapy, per se, but it turned into that when I realized the story revealed deep seated issues I had in my own life.

I've done it for years. I used a journal almost daily. Now I use blogs even though I would not share something to detailed and personal online. You might want to stick to your journal for your private thoughts and reflections and your blog for something that perhaps your friends can help you or give you some insight in.

No. However, writing has driven me to therapy from time to time.
On a more serious note, there are indeed times when writing has had a therapeutic effect for me, but those occasions have been rare.

I agree with Kyralan. I write stories, and then when I'm reading over them later I realize that it echoes my own life and problems at that time.
It's kind of unsettling in a way, but it's mostly cool.
