My family just purchased "If I Did It" by OJ Simpson in order to benefit Ron Goldman's family. We got a huge kick out of reading the cover which has the title in huge, all-red-letter caps "I DID IT" and a tiny little " if " barely noticeable on the front cover. Since there is really no other way for the Goldmans to get the money that is due them for the wrongful death of their son, we thought it was a good way to show our support for the family. Does anyone else plan on buying it JUST to make sure the Goldman family gets the money they are due? And, if you buy it, do you think you'll read it or keep it as a collectible item...likely to be worth more money once OJ dies? How else do you plan on using it? (Clean and mature answers only, please. I don't like profanity.)

I just wanted to point out that OJ will NOT benefit from the book. The Goldmans are the only ones getting royalites off the book. OJ has been avoiding paying the money he owes from losing his civil suit. When he came out with the book, the Goldman family sued him for all the rights to the book and won. So..if you buy it, you're not doing OJ any favors. But you'll be rubbing it in is face, since the family of the guy he killed will get all the proceeds from something he hoped to profit from himself.

Are the Goldmans that destitute? I don't think they need my money... and if I thought they really did, I'd send a check for the 17% they'd get from the book sale.

We all know that no amount of money will bring their son back, and the fact that they are still looking for monetary compensation after this much time has passed... it feels cheap and ugly and I feel like taking a shower! haha.

On the other hand, you might just have yourself a collectible there. It is an historically important piece, evidenced by the mere fact that it spurs controversy. I have nothing against anyone who wishes to purchase and own ANY book.

edit: The answer following mine blew me away.

i do not have any plans to buy his book. yeah it might benefit the goldmans what about the browns? i honestly don't think he would tell the truth about the whole deal if his life depended on it. so i don't think making a buck on two peoples lives is a good thing.

just as an extra thought i lost my daughter when she was only a month away from her 8th birthday some one gave her a prescription drug that was not prescribed for her and if and i know her father did it but if he wrote a book saying if i did it i wouldn't want to see it in print either because it would hurt to much.even after 23 years it still hurts because i don't know what her life would have been. it's just a senseless waste.

No, and am not planning on it. The Goldman's only get 17% of book price on every book sold. Oj is on my last nerve. I know he did it. To write this book just slaps the face of everyone who feels he has gotten away with a hideous crime. How do you think his children feel, what a self serving wretch he is.

The very curious part of me wants to read it, but another part says don't get caught up in the media frenzy, but I really! do want to read it., I probably will wind up getting it although I would never hear the end from my husband , he thinks the whole thing is silly! "When" I get it I will put it in my true crime section of books along with "Helter Skelter" and a few others, maybe he will do a book signing someday.

Too bad your family is helping to continue the heartache for the Brown family! Have you noticed? The Goldman family is only out for the publicity and money. Yes, their son was murdered, but to publish a book to make money off their dead son themselves is horrible and does not honor their son in anyway.

If I did read it, I would read a bootleg copy. I would never buy it because I don't want to make OJ money off the book. I doubt he would have wrote it and agreed to have it published unless he was making money off the book.
