WHY in the world do people like to read the last sentence or chapter of books before they read it so that they can find out what happens? Are you THAT anxious to find out what happens? I mean, I am with my books too but part of the ending is the journey that took the character there. Why ruin the whole thing??

Does anyone do this? Or does anyone agree/disagree?

I'm sure everyone who has read Harry Potter has read about a character and was like 'Woah, I remind myself alot of him/her!'

That ever happen to you? If so, what character do you remind yourself of?

Me? - Ehm..haha. Well for starters Hermione. She's like the only girl of the gang. And she only seems to have like one 'girl' friend, Ginny. and I myself find myself hanging out without of guys. Also just like Hermione I'm really smart...not to brag but by 4th grade I had the reading level of a college kid.
Also Luna Lovegood. I find myself to be a bit strange every now then...=b No, I dont read magazines upside down...=b But sometimes I will wear odd clothes and say odd random things.
But all in all I find myself to resemble Tonks. I'm alwasy running around doing something for someone...and I'm clumsy...haha. I'm always dropping something or breaking something.
I also look alot like the girl who plays Tonks...except I have blondish brown hair...not pinkish. =b

You?

Is there any great influential books should I read? I want to read something like The Prince by Machiavelli. I'm interested in any books about anti-semitism, holocaust, genocides, conspiracy, and stuff like that.

Any suggestion?

And anyone knows about "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"? What do you think about that book?

What are the seven basic plots in literature?

I once read somewhere (it was so long ago that I can't remember where or who said it) that "there are only seven basic plots in all novels and plays." Does this ring any bells? Does anyone know what I am talking about? What are the seven basic plots that always repeat themselves in all literature?

Many thanks.

I read A LOT, and I'm looking for another good book. Preferably in the Middle Ages, with a female heroine. If possible, no magic. Historical disasters aren't bad either, like the Alamo or the Titanic. PLEASE don't recommend anything about the Triangle Shirtwaist fire, I've read pretty much everything about it and I'm sick of it.

I am in the 10th grade, going into the 11th, just so you know.

Maybe? Anyone? I know you can find sites like B&N where you can search find one where you can search based on topic, not title or author, and have a couple books recommended, or even books suggested based on OTHER books I like. I found a site like that once but I lost it and I've never been able to find it again...

I have been asked to order books for a library which is run totally by volunteers (ie we don't have any expert librarians!) and I have been given the task of ordering for children in two age groups - 6-10 and 11 upwards. Although I know of many great childrens authors, I would be really grateful if any of you could list your favourite books or authors for children in these categories as we have limited funds, and I want to order the best I can.

Thanks in advance!

It is fiction and maybe a few years old.

It was about a woman who wanted to marry rich and kept a notebook with all kinds of things in it re: wedding dress, furniture, etc. Her whole life was planned in this notebook. She meets a man that she thinks is rich (I believe he is something in the movie business but not an actor). He is actually impersonating his friend and is not rich. I can't remember what he does. Anyway they get married and he still hasn't told her who he is. They use a condom on their honeymoon and she takes a turkey baster and shoots herself up with the semen. She gets pregnant. He finally tells her the truth of who he is and she moves in with her mother. At the end of the book she throws the notebook out the car window and a girl that has just arrived to town finds it and picks it up.

Can I charge him cash (if I agree)???
I mean what if I want to write my own book on supernatural accounts/studies someday?
I'd like to get something out of my own work.
WHAT DO PEOPLE normally "do" generally when someone wants to use their personal story please??
This is very important to me, I appreciate any valuable info here :o)

1. Why did Ishmael talk about Cain and Abel? Did the story have any special relationship to the takers and leavers story?

2. Why did 'I' (author) bribe a guy?
(I don't recall who that guy was, but I remember that he told the author at the end that Ishmael was dead.)
