Yes, I believe there is money in writing books. If a book is of good quality and is marketing properly you can make money. The key is the marketing aspect after getting published. Authors must also have the initiative and desire to write and market what they have written.
It does not matter the type of book you write if it is different than those previously published and is marketed well, then you can make money. One side item is if your topic is of interest to many people you may get opportunities to speak before a group In this way you make money as a speaker as a result of getting published. Having a book published gives you exposure and opens doors that may not have opened without it. Authors sometimes make more money speaking than from selling their books but the book gets them the speaking engagements. I consider this making money from publishing a book.
I wish you luck.

I think that there is allot of money in writting to be made. However with that in mind you may have to "sell out" to make a book that people WANT to read, therefore it will sell. There is nothing wrong with current authors who have made millions on there writings. However I think to write any book good or bad you have to be passionate about your story no matter what the genre is.

To be honest, no.
If you are thinking of writing a book to make money, you might consider a different path.
You will make SOME money for books you write. But unless you write several different books, each selling a fair number of copies, or one great best seller, you wont make enough money to live... unless you sell your book rights to make a movie.
Writers write for the love of the craft. Anyone who is a writer to make money is in it for the wrong reasons and, for that simple fact, their books will not do as well as they hope.
Write for the love of it, not for the money.

Yes. But there is more to writing than just words on a page. you have to take the time to learn the craft of writing. And there is far more to publishing than just sending in your story. By all means, if you want to write, go for it....just don't give up your day job until you sell your first book!

There are book shops in every corner of the world, big ones and little ones, ones with millions of books in, ones with just a few books so I think that the sale of books is a worldwide thing!

I think there is. But I also believe the odds are about the same as starting a rock band and getting rich and famous.
In other words, you can make money writing books, just not as much as you would hope for.

Absolutely not.
But there is money in selling books. Lots of people write books. The only people who make money are the ones who sell them.
