I'm doing research on an obscure topic (involving English language diaries and travelogues written about a particular area in Japan). I've found several possible leads on materials I want to investigate via the internet library catalogue system (worldcat), but the few (old and rare) resources I need are all located in distant locations (university libraries, mostly). Is there ANY way I can get access to those materials without actually travelling to the libraries in person?!? Isn't there SOME way to see these old books without spending thousands of dollars -- especially when I can't be certain they will really help my research?

ANY ideas are welcomed! THANKS.

(p.s.--internet availability of all books, I'm waiting for you!!)

I've written some things and I want an opinion from someone other than family, who only say positive things. I want some serious critique! Is there a website I can post it on, or some where I can write it and then link to a question on Yahoo! Answers? I'd write it here, but it's waaaay too long! thanks for the help!

oh ya, what I'm writing is like a SUPER descriptive account of rides at Disneyland, and the park itself.

thanks again!

I am in the process of writing a story, hopefully turn into a novel. I have been working on it from take to time, now I'm getting down to business. When I started to write the introduction, I pretty much layed all of the information out in the introduction. (Who The Characters Are, what they're like, about them, where they lie etc.)

Do you think that's coming on to strong for the introduction? Or do you think I should tell the information gradually throughout the chapters. If you suggest that I'm going to have a to of work to do!

And the note that Harry found in it saying it was a fake was put there by Voldemort to throw everybody off? It seems hard to believe that one person (RAB) could have taken the real Horcrux and replaced it with a fake one when Harry and Dumbledore together had so much trouble getting to it.

What do you think?

it deals with supply and demand as it applys to magical items and costs both in online in-game currency and actual dollars. It always sounded interesting to me. Thanks, everyone

I know what the original crests look like -- not the ones in the Harry Potter movies, but the original ones -- but where did we get them? Did some edition of the books include color photos of them, or something? I'm talking about these:

Since i would assume that it is too late to reserve it, do any of you have suggestions on where to pick up a copy of Deathly Hallows(not internet)? I thought about Sams Club because thats where I bought Order of the Phoenix( I was very surprised to find it there, there were about 20 copies). So, is it too late to reserve one, and if so, where can I pick one up?

Seriously, about 2/3 of the book/authors questions are about HP.

Okay,
So I've been thinking A LOT about this.

First let's figure our Voldemort's age.
In the 2nd book, it is mentioned that the Chamber of Secrets was last opened 50 years ago. And it was Voldemort.
In the diary he is his 16 year old self. So at that time, his real age (even though he doesn't have a body) is 66. Four years go by, Harry is 16, Voldemort is 70.
That seems all right.

But than,
In the sixth book, in Slughorn's memory, we see Voldemort again, in his school years, with his friends. One of them called "Lestrange", Bellatrix's future husband. But Bellatrix can't be much older than 40-45, can't she? 30 years between her husband, and her?

Have I made a mistake?
Or do you think this is meant to be this way?

So I ended up seeing the movie today and I got to thinking about something that I hadn't thought of with the book. What house would Umbridge have been in when she was in school? She certainly seems a lot nastier in the book than the movie (and she certainly was nasty in the movie though I don't recall her admitting to sending the dementors after Harry) and would seem to fit the comment about not a witch or wizard who went bad that wasn't in Slytherin. But she seems very loyal to Fudge (I personally believe it's more out of the fact that if he's removed she may loose her position as Undersecertary to the Minister) and loyalty was something the Sorting Hat said was a feature of Hufflepuffs in the first book. Though she doesn't fit the just part at all.

Personally, I think Slytherin from her actions and the way she treats non-wizard magical beings, but she could have been in a different house. What do you folks think?

My apologies for the crude nature of this question but it has been bugging me and bugging me in the back of my mind ever since the 5th book came out, and now even worse after seeing the movie.

I keep trying to repress the question because its shameful, but I think this is the only way to get it out my system, so again I am so sorry....

Ok so Hagrid is a half-giant, and we know that his father was wizard and his mother was full on giant.

My question is... erm... exactly how do a normal size wizard and a full on giantess ... erm... you know... do what mommies and daddies do?

I mean seriously the giants are supposed to be as tall as hills!

LOOK its just been on my mind ok!

:p

*Gets ready for the inevitable "I think Harry Potter is lame but for some unaccountable reason still opened this question" replies*

Edmund Morris has written "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" covering Teddy's life up to when he first becomes President and "Theodore Rex" which details Teddy's time as President.

I was under the impression that Mr. Morris was going to write a final book which would finish Teddy's life.
