i'm looking for a (free) website where i can read a book online instead of going to the store

Well, if the books you want to read are in the public domain, try Project Guttenberg and World Wide School.

Check with your public library. Mine subscribes to a service called netlibrary.com that has free ebooks and downloadable audiobooks, and lots of good, recent ones, too. I can use it for free just by having a library account.
