I'm talking about a few days or even 1 week but not the average several weeks/months novel. Did you like the shortness or were the days too long & drawn out in the novel? any other likes or dislikes about it? I hope this makes sense!

I'm writitng a story right now that many have said is very good, and I want to get it to a publishing company to see if I can make a book out of it. It's a dream of mine to have my own published work.

I was just curious. I'm going to stand in line to get my book, but I haven't actually purchased it yet. Is it possible to buy it when it releases at midnight or do I have to preorder it? If you could let me know, that would be great! :)

I'm a teenager, but write short stories with serious themes such as self-realization, global warming, things like that. Does anyone know a company that I could talk with about publishing my stories? Also, I'm looking for any experienced writer to look at my work and give suggestions. I really just need someone to take a look at my work and help me with editing/revising/improving.

I can't recall where we learn that Ravenclaw is blue and bronze with the eagle, Hufflepuff yellow and black with the badger. Can someone point me to where this info is in the actual books?

Christ. Over two-thirds of the recent questions in B&A are about HP. Screw HP. QUIT ASKING THE SAME FRIGGIN' QUESTION OVER AND OVER!

No that I'm against the book series, but it is not my cup of tea and it's frustrating to have to go through 12 Harry Potter questions to get to one non- Harry Potter question.

Just a suggestion,

Do you think that its possible that Neville is actually the person who can defeat the dark lord, b/c professor trelawney made a prophecy about a boy who was born at the end of july to parents who had defied voldemort three times. it could have applied to either harry or neville, who was also born at the end of july to parents who were members of the Order. Also .Voldemort would mark the child as his equal, choosing the boy that he believed would be the most dangerous to him. Dumbledore believes Voldemort chose Harry because Harry was a half-blood, just like Voldemort. But Voldemort only heard the first part of the prophecy. The second part proclaimed that the child would have powers that the Dark Lord would not know, and that either must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives. Dumbledore tells Harry that the distinguishing power he has is love. Is it possible harry isnt the choosen one?

I am currently working on a book that I really think deserves to be published, but I'm a little hesitant... Is there somewhere secure that I can publish it? In general, I mean, I'll just see if the place is near me or not. I don't want anyone to take credit for my work, but I have no idea how publishing works. Please offer serious answers. Thank you in advance! :D

Why when JK Rowling called it Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone did scholastic change it in all American versions to Harry Potter and the Sorcerers stone?
Has been bugging me for some time now and seems to make no sense as it is a title and American English isn't that different so why translate it?

Oh is anything else different? I'm curious. I am complete Harry Potter addict :P.

I know this is a weird question but...
I have heard people mention that Harry Potter is similar to Star Wars. I am a big fan of both series and I can't find many signifigant similarities. If anyone can think of anything that these series have in common please inform me.

I started a group on yahoo...its supposed to be a sort of support group, idea sound board, or just discussing ideas group. I thought it would help make the writing process feel more open and "un-alone"...where if you have a block you can go and talk to others who have it too and get past it so you can get back to your work... also I will post articles and info on getting published..

anyways the yahoo group is :

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WritingfriendsWeb/

Right now the group is open membership- but in a few days I am going to make it on approval only, so that the people who have joined will feel safe that their ideas are protected and the things we discuss are also protected. Makes for a better group dynamic...I think...

Anyone here is welcome to join if you are serious about honing your craft.

I am an obsessed Harry Potter fan, and all I can think about lately is what will happen in The Deathly Hallows. The biggest thing I have been thinking about is the horcruxes. Okay, we KNOW that the Gaunt ring and Marvolo's diary are two of them and have both been destroyed. Then there is the locket which is suspected to have been destroyed by RAB (Regulus?) and Helga Hufflepuff's cup. It is believed that there is something from each house which leaves us in need of something from Gryffindor and something from Ravenclaw. There are seven pieces total, one f which resides in Voldemort's body. That would complete the list if there is, in fact, one item from each house. Perhaps he was unable to find something from Gryffindor so he only got the 3 houses. That leaves the possibility of Nagini. Another common theory is HP himself. Maybe Dumbledore was merely suggesting Nagini to hint that a living thing can in fact be made into a horcrux.

Your thoughts???

Hasn't the 'natives think the white or new guy is a god' bit been done to death in cartoons, especially where it turns out the 'god' is supposed to be sacraficed??? If this angle was in the tintin storyline would it have been charged with racism??? and what about the south american and hawaii tribes who killed cook and Cortez because they thought they were gods??? isn't this probably what the writer was really drawing on???
