Depends, some people have the talent, and the creativity, to write easily and well, but writing a book itself takes more than that. Persistance, some knowledge, story telling talent, etc. are practically required for a book to "happen." So it is "difficult." The genre depends on the author, some people are better at (or more comfortable) writing in specific genres.

Honestly, a lot of it depends on what you're best at. Personally, I'm good at fictional stories and sad stories. I think novels which people sell best on have some action, sad parts, deep thinking, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: romance. Romance is a HUGE part of any story. If you try to write a book, you'll find that it is A LOT harder than it looks. There is a ton of research neccesary, as well as hard work, a good publisher and most of all: time. If you don't have time, the book won't sell. Good luck!

Either Romance, adventure or fantasy. Or all three mixed.
Something from Stephanie Meyer, my favorite author (the twilight series), says to really get to know your characters. Know what their personality is like. Their fears, their goals, dreams, what songs they like, ect...
Some more advice is not to write a book in order. Write whichever chapter or scene you feel in the mood to write. Then put it together later.
Sometimes when im writing dialouge, im talking it out loud with lots of enthusiasim.
It also helps to have character that are realistic. Someone the reader can compare to.
And make sure you describe everything so it plays like a movie in the readers mind.
Its tough to write a book. Stick to topics your comfortable with.

It depends on the subject. A good book has 80,000 to 120,000 words total in it. More or less will make people want to read it. As most authors say, "Don't tell, show." What they mean, don't tell what had happened, show what had happened. It makes it easier to reach that 80,000-120,000 word mark and it makes it easier for the reader to know what's going on. Hopes that helps.

I would say it greatly depends on what genre you like best and what you know most about. Also, it depends on if you like to research. If you like to research, you could write something non-fiction or in a time period you don't know much about. If you don't like to research know lots about or have personal experiences with.
