Title: Dreams Are Places of Dangerous Tranquility
By a 14 year old girl.

In my dreams I go to a place away from the world

It is covered in white and everyone is silent

The trees are bare and lived in winter for so long

And no glimmer of sunlight has ever touched the ground

In it are fields of silver hay stacks and meadows of transparent grass

The roads lead to nowhere and the towns are abandoned

The trees that line these roads have carvings of empty hearts

With no initials to inhabit the lone shape that lingers on the bark

It rains sometimes in the my dreams

The droplets turn to crimson as soon as they touch my skin

The thunder roars are followed by the soft crying of a lost child

And the lightening strike always hit a nearby treetop so lone

And when it snows in my dreams

The flakes lands on the ground with such elegance

My dreams are a place of emptiness

And when I awake in these places

I remember reading an article about 2 years ago, possibly in Playboy magazine, about famous literary feuds. One of the feuds covered was Dave Eggers vs. James Frey. Can't find anything about the article anymore, but I recall details, namely the one in the subject line here, that I can't find anywhere else. Does anyone know about either the article or the Beth Eggers thing?

When forty winters shall besiege thy brow,
And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field,
Thy youth's proud livery so gazed on now,
Will be a totter'd weed of small worth held:
Then being asked, where all thy beauty lies,
Where all the treasure of thy lusty days;
To say, within thine own deep sunken eyes,
Were an all-eating shame, and thriftless praise.
How much more praise deserv'd thy beauty's use,
If thou couldst answer 'This fair child of mine
Shall sum my count, and make my old excuse,'
Proving his beauty by succession thine!
This were to be new made when thou art old,
And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold.

Could anyone explain what exactly this poem means, I'm not looking for answers or to cheat but I was hoping someone out there understnads this and could explain it. I try, but once i get to about the 3rd line my head is like ........... so confused.
Thanks. =]

I read a book (romance novel?) about thirteen years ago, and now I'm trying to find it again. It was about a girl who goes to live on the English moors. She meets a brooding stranger who walks his two mastiff dogs, Romulus and Remus, on the moors. They fall in love, blah, blah, blah, you can guess the rest. Normally, I don't have a problem locating things like this on the web, but I can't remember anything distinctive besides the dogs' names. Anybody got any ideas what this book might be or who wrote it? Thanks in advance!

I need help. Ok, I decided it would be more about psychological / emotional / mental horror NOT the gory / bloody pulp kind of thing. So, I chose to base my story around the archetype of Japanese horror. Please tell me what are the archetypes / components of Japanese or asian themed horror? (i.e. themes like found in "The Ring", etc.)

I've just read an article en El Comercio over here about the english translation. I love Cesar vallejo, is a high level writer like a Cervantes ..

Anyway, I have an american friend who is learning some spanish , he is pretty good with it , so I wanted to introduce him to Vallejo . At first I wanted to translate it to english..but I realize I suck at it :/, so probably he won't get the same feeling and he would end up hatting him or passing him as some other writter because of me :/.

Does anyone have heard of him?, or read something from him?, what were your ideas when you did?, did you like him?, I would appreciate if you can be as detailed as you can in your description...thanks.
