Well, I always think of what I want to write down, you know, visualize it. Then, I think of as many descriptive words possible that match the scene (don't use scary, use horrific, petrifying, etc.). Write those words down, and then, using those words, make sentences. It takes a little practice, but once you get used to it, it's really easy and makes your writing sound smarter and more descriptive.

use a computer with spell check.

And start writing you idea down. Sounds easy? It is. But getting it written in a form and voice that other want to read is another matter all together.

Look into getting some books on the Writing elements: Scenes, Dialog, Characters, Plot and Timing (structure), Point of View, to name a few. You can start writing before you read all the books, but be prepared to make lots of changes (you will anyway).

Also get a book on self-editing but don't rely on that to put the finishing touches on your book, you still need a good critique partner to give you GOOD advice, and not just pats on the back.

Next when the book is finished start working on getting it published. Search the markets for Agents and Publishers...

You haven't given up yet??? Good you just might be a writer. You have to be determined and willing to go the extra hundred miles.

Whenever you think of something, write it down...even if it doesn't flow with your other ideas. This way you can always look back at this paper and maybe make one of these ideas work for your story. Remember, if you don't write it down when you first think of it, you will most likely never think of it again. It might be a good idea to carry a small notebook around with you at all times... good luck.

I myself have always been interested in writing a novel. Problem is every time I start, I get stuck. There are so many courses you could take and books that help tremendously in the entire process.

WRITING...

Anyway, my suggestion to people who want to write but have difficulty gettin gtheir thoughts on paper is to buy one of those little recorders and say what you want to - then take a piece of paper and write everthing down, then start to organize the thoughts into some sort of order that makes you happy. Fill in the blanks and revis, revise, revise!

Good luck.

The only thing I've found that helps me write is by reading. I study the structure of books and learn from them. Also, I sometimes record my thoughts on a tape recorder (helps when a notebook isn't handy).

Start by writing down ideas as you come up with them. Carry a pad of paper with you always.

Once you have the general ideas down you can sit and elaborate when you're in the mood.

Oh yeah, and use spellcheck!

Just start writing and keep writing. You can always reorganize, revise, and edit later. Just write everything down, get it out of your head and on paper no matter the sequence.

If you have trouble physically writing down your thoughts, a tape recorder is helpful. Whenever you think of something, write it down or record it even if it's closer to the middle or end of your story. Don't be afraid to rewrite things you aren't satisfied with.
