The Value of Experience

What is the sound,
That the weary leaves make,
As they rustle in the wind,
On an autumn day?

What is the smell,
Of your mother’s old sweater,
Caressed weekly by Tide ™,
To remove tearstains and pizza sauce?

What is the texture,
Of a newly sharpened pencil,
On the day of the test,
As it rolls down your graffiti laden desk?

What is the sight,
Of the pathway back home,
To a traveler who’s lost,
In the labyrinth of a two star motel?

What is the feeling,
Of your feet on the floor,
As you roll out of bed,
And make contact with a new day

Though adjectives are useful things
and a picture’s worth a thousand
Some things just can't be described
You simply have to try them

He fed upon my heart's desire
And hungered for my trust
Consumed by his entising words
I'm drawn away by lust
This dragon of Gomorrah
Inpaled his poisoned barb
Deceiving me so I'd believe
A beast in angel garb

Please, no Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or comic book characters.
They don't necessarily need to be from a book.

It would be either a novel or game about finding lost tomes of an ancient civilization that ruled the world with sorcery. The art of sorcery has been forbidden by the Guardian beings (They are kind of like angels that rule the prime material plane by the authority of god), but recent developments have caused a need to rekindle the lost arts.

The problem is "forbidden knowledge" is already the title of a novel, so I need something similar.

I'm generally into fiction or fantasy.
I've read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyers, all the books by Tamora Pierce, and the Dark Angel series by Meredith Ann Pierce.
Mystery is good too.

It's section 2,(from the pages) question 5 in the Daily Mail book quiz(28/12/06) .What is being described, 'Blank is the place that dare not speak its name. Those who went there are careful not to use blank letter word. Instead they tactfully talk about school. An old boys book about which institution.
Eton
Harrow
Wormwood Scrubs
This was reviewed by Ivo Dawnway on June 23.
Many thanks for those who give right answer, this is the last question and I 'm stuck.

Yes, another literature studies question since I'm not doing very well with this essay, I can desribe the characters fair enough it's just Maupassant, his interests and information on French Naturalism that is evading me. It's vexes me terribly, I'm so very disorientated. Ah well...

All I know is that Guy de Maupassant used this style frequently and that it describes everyday or more normal events opposed to romanticism or surrealism. If anyone has anymore details please tell me. Thankyou!

I'm English. In school we weren't taught American literature, and I feel that I've missed out. I'm not interested in gore and sci-fi, but I'd like to find poetry and literature that Americans learn about.

I'd like to know what you'd recommend. I'm interested in authors born, say, 1820s - 1940s.

I've had my fill of traditional fantasy settings and I am in hopes that someone can point me to a book or series preferably that takes place in a modern setting. I've been thinking a lot about how magic would work in modern times and how it would affect things like wars and politics so anything that might touch upon those subjects would be excellent. But just modern magical tales suggestions are very much welcome.

There is a man I know of that always gave books to his child relatives with the same character names. He found the books by doing a search online. Is there a website that can find children's stories with specific character names? (looking for Grant, Jessica, or Alison)
