My hands down favorite is Alex Cross. I've read a lot of detective type books...and always enjoyed Miss Marple..LOL...but Alex Cross is just one very unusual character.

Of course, many people will say Sherlock Holmes. In recent literature, I like Elvis Cole, in a series of books by Robert Crais.

The finest fictional detective and my favorite is the incomparable Phillip Marlowe, creation of Raymond Chandler. All hard-boiled detectives in fiction owe their existence to him.
