There has been so many rumors about that book becoming a movie. I believe the last one I heard was that Spike Lee wanted to do it, but now Spike has signed on to do the James Brown story so if he was going to do "Winter", it's been postponed.
I think it would make an incredible movie but the problem is, as we all know, the movie will never be as good as the book.

I was surrounded by darkness. The moon was hidden by an army of clouds. Fog wrapped around me like a wet blanket as the winter breeze attacked my face. I breathed out a warm, shaky breath which turned into a foggy, white mist. Embracing myself, I took a step forward. The sound of the leaves crunching underneath me was {louder than usual.} [much too loud] My head {jolted} [snapped] to the right {side of me.} [Not needed] I was looking for the source of sinister sniggers but I was left disappointed; all that could be seen was a vast stretch of darkness. I was cold, tired and scared. Peculiar noises echoed in my ears and slowly turned into a combination of unrecognisable murmurs. My heart thumped rapidly in my chest. The atmosphere grew more and more intolerable. I flinched as a warm, leather material clung to my arm… Ohterwise - well done! Very well written! very engaging and I would read more! Keep up the great work! You are a good writer!
